yeah ranking people from their prelim games is stupid. Some teams can win fluke games....and there could be bad calls and so on. No matter what the classifications are they need to be set at the begining of the year and be extremely clear...last year at the uxpl there was a ton of confusion.

New League!

Velocity 1, the Velocity Advisory Board, and myself had reservations concerning the set-up of a new tournament paintball league until later next year. It takes a lot of work to do all of the adminstration and management. However, after considerable thought and conservations, we will proceed immediately with forming the new league.
If the players want to submit input, name suggestions, now is the time to do it!
Thanks

like everyone has been saying x-ball should def be implimented, get the teams to pre-pay for the year to keep the league alive. And make it an XPSL Affiliate so whatever teams are playing XPSL next year will be able to get the extra points without having to go to california........again lol

Reasons:

Just two of the many important reasons for the new league:
1st. Velocity Paintball does have the necessary venues to support the tournaments.
2nd. The paintballers of Utah have been fortunate to have some organizations be able to support local tournaments. However, it is extremely hard for these organizations to give all they want to give, because the urban sprawl within the Wasatch front limits the # of possible fields to support the tournaments. Velocity needs to help give the players a foundation to go to another level and also give the players an affiliate to do that.

I like that name the NUPL ( Northern Utah Paintball League )
I think you should consider using that name it isdifferent and won't be to easily confused with the other league names.

Prepaying for a season.... NOT A FAN.... Things can change and promises can be broken about events, prizes, shirts, other deals etc.

Pay for one at a time and then teams that may have stuff come up arent stuck and lose cash if they cant make it.

Updates

We have some more initial information concerning the X-Ball tournaments for 2006. We will post periodically during the next 24 hours.
First, for all those who plan on playing in the x-ball tournaments at Velocity Paintball next year, I suggest that you browse through the web site of pspevents.com. There are rules and information that can be downloaded from there concerning the tournament play. Also, you will notice that some of the rules have been implemented from the NPPL rules.

Second, we believe that is necessary to maintain the play format of x-ball as close as possible. The NPPL and the PSP are closely aligned and it's very possible that the NPPL will incorporate more X-ball tournament play, even if it is through the PSP. By doing this, teams playing x-ball here in Utah will be knowledgeable and better prepared to enter NPPL and PSP sanctioned x-ball tournaments.

Third, because it is Velocity's desire to stay closely aligned with the play format, we will implement the division classes as outlined in their 5-man rules format, with some adjustments for next year.

Forth, we recognize that there has been a lot of conversation on the matter of team classification. Therefore, we will do the following: If there is enough response, we will hold 1 or 2, performance x-ball tournaments for team classification. These will be BYOP tournaments, no prizes, just for classification into the X-ball tournaments. The charges will be just for the costs to do the classification. Velocity will make no money on this, but we will provide the tournaments if there is at least 4 or more teams each, Beginner, Rookie, Novice, that think they deserve a different classification. In regards to this: be aware that the x-ball tournament play is different than standard NPPL format play. Most players who have played the x-ball tournaments will tell you that it is more fun, but also more demanding. For example, teams that play Novice in NPPL format, may not be able to match a team that has played Rookie in X-Ball. Food for thought!
