Ususlly you can tell if it is ramping. You cant chatch everything but that doesent mean you shouldnt try. Its like saying practice makes perfect but no one is perfect so why practice. Anyways no ramping no cheater boards, no cap.

ha Tub boy i still play and fast guns didn't happen yesterday. the original cap came in the late 90's cause the angel leds were hitting the 20's.
I can, have, and will, play at those speeds, but i think its detramental to the sport. If the new teams can't afford to play, the tournament side of the sport will stop growing. And right now the price of paint isn't going down its going up. Consider this last year in Vegas my three teams shot almost 50 cases, thats almost 2 and a half cases per player...now times that by 5 events and 20 0r thirty practices. Sure you may be able to afford it but most won't or won't practice enough because they have no money. Also im not retired. I simply couldn't get out of work for most of this year.(running a field takes a enormous amount of time) ill be around for many years to come i assure you the game hasn't changed enough to put us old timers on the back burner. im only 30 rember. I know you still have many years left and you have more years behind your belt then most of us on this site have. I know how good of a player you are and what you are capable of. I am just saying once you reach tournament level that is what it takes to win. Beginers dont play tournys, they play at the local field for fun. And if they want to go to the tournament level, by then they know what it will take and they can make the choice of going touny, scenario, or just play for fun.

Derek actaully does make a VERY valid point regarding money and playing regional (even local) tournaments AND practicing.

Ramping.... Hmmmm.....
Then I can set my Mag to runaway? huh, please, pretty please, I'm sure I can hit 24-25 bps... That takes no skill either.... I've spent a lot of time getting my gun to not go into runaway, and I can hit a respectable12-14 bps. pure semiauto, no reactive, all me.... I can understand buying the type of guns we are discussing here, and granted I wouldnt mind trying them out. But on the other hand, we can buy Ferrari's, but the speed limit's 65 for a reason... | |||

i think we should have normal speeds no ramping. i can se that if you did ramping it would be good in a way because everyone is equal shooting, but then its too easy. I think the fairest thing is to just have no ramping no bps cap. that way its far all around. you can shoot fast if you can thats skill. if you cant get better.

There are some great points being made. Thanks to everybody for the participation. Please keep the comments comming.
Please keep in mind this is the latest "arms race" in paintball. The first big one I remember being part of is if Constant Air (thats a CO2 canister for those who don't know) should be allowed or not. Then there was the autotrigger disagreements, the 10 round tube verses the 45 round hopper. And then the semiauto came......... My point is that BPS capabilities is just the current in a long line of changes in paintball that has inspired a big debate. All the UXPL staff wants to do is give players a safe and fair venue to play in. And hopefully with your input, we can do that. __________________ If you hate your parents, the man or the establishment, don't show them up by getting wasted and wrapping your car around a tree. This is one concern I have about the rules. If we say cap, then there will be a group of players that have to buy new boards. If we say ramp, then there will be a group of players who would buy new boards (but a "cheater" board would be more of a choice than a cap board.. because you can play under ramping rules without ramp). Also, as Allen stated, if we say cap or no ramp there are a group of markers that would be disallowed stock, which means new boards for them. Quote:

Hmmmmmm. Cheater boards are for the most part banned in most major tournements, but there is a huge gray area. The NXL allows quite a few variants of cheater boards I beleive, but NPPL, XPSL & PSP do not. The NPPL has even gone as far as to name some types of boards and more specifically chips that are banned. Tadao and Musashi chips are legal, but they do ramp. Also the Frenzy board in my Alias ramps slightly, but there are no mods you can do to eliminate it. I think all high end markers will ramp to an extent, and it might open a can of worms when it comes to ramping. As far as the need for 18-20 bps, I think there is a definite need. It allows back players & mid players to controll lanes enabeling fronts and mids to move about more freely. We go through anywhere from 15-20 cases per event. Last year we played over 10 events, so yea the cost is huge for sponsors and players. So I understand the cost issues, and if I had to choose between only playing tournements w/o practice or just playing, I would take just playing any day. Most of us just enjoy playing paintball, and we all enjoy the competition of tournemnt ball as well. It all comes down to priorities and how committed you are.The best way to control ramping and excesive trigger bounce would be to check guns like always. 1 trigger pull 1 shot. If you pull the trigger once and the gun just keeps going then it is obvious what should be done. Also by banning all after market chips and boards you kind of screw the guys who have dumped alot of money, drive, committment, devotion and love into their game and local paintball all together. JMO
