Paint could NOT be BYOP. Unless you want registration to be $800+. Plus you would still have to find a way to get a good price on paint.
Even at walmart you would be paying avg. $40 a case and dont think that they will have over 10-15 cases to sell to a team. This series could not be any cheaper for all that you get. I know that most have played on other series, You know that there fields, Prizes, Refs, and staff not even come close! Even look at the XPSL in Vegas a couple weeks ago, anyone that played in that event would tell you that you were playing on dirt/sand/rocks. As far as finding another 2 players for your team that can be hard if you dont put any effort in finding them. I could walk into Peg Leg Pro center on Tuesday night and easily finding 2 great players that would love to play. Sorry if this came over harsh but this needed to be on the table for all to see. P.S. Fuzzy your comments on most these threads are stupid and end up starting more comments that should not even be on this thread. Next time you think about postings a comment think before you do! Thanks to all the Utah players that are so supportive of the XPS Sincerely, XPS

I agree with you on finding players. Its not that hard if you try. And I do understand that running an event is not cheap. But XPS can have a practice day for $10 a head, BYOP with paint availible at the field and everyone has a great time. But myself, I don't care about big prizes. Especially if it means being able to afford an event. Some player can find paint well under $40 a case and some even have paint sponsors.
Even a variety of paint to choose from would be better than nothing. This was a XPSL feeder event, a chance at moving on. To me, it wasn't about the prizes but more about an opportunity. Sense all the registration is given back in prizes, why not adjust the return on prizes and allow BYOP with paint availible at the field, just like XPSL? But thats just my opinion.

You know the xpsl and nppl even psp are bring your own paint but if I do recall we pay a much stiffer entry to those events. As does tombstone. Not to mention we have a paint sponsor and most likely couldn't get paint here and pay the cost the xps would have to charge for byop event. It would be like playong nationals for us. This is a good deal. I mean u take the entry plus paint and divide between ur players. U come out better then a byop event. U forget the refs have to be rewarded for reffing and setting up plus other expenses. Events will always end up costing the organizer money in the end. The do it for the love of the sport. Hell even the nppl and xpsl lost millions last year but there still here.... utah used to have a great turn out of teams to events with no whining... u baby faces just coming into this sport are ruining it. Quit whining and support the local events otherwise all we will have left is national events. And I can only think of 3 teams that have been here long enough that allready play nationals tombstone ballistic and sl tension in psp..... think about it otherwise its back to the woods for the rest of u! Xps is a great league and not having seven is a lame excuse.... sorry is this is mean but I can't believe a event got canceled....

It sounds like you have some good pricing on paint. But I know most teams would not even have a chance in finding good priced paint on top of that this is mostly a rookie series. I don't know if you have played in many tournaments but if you are just starting you will seriously under estimate how much paint you would shoot. I know I did my first event and then you would run into the problem with team limiting how much they bring per game and in a game that could mean prizes are on the line and your team is short on paint with no where to buy your opposition is smiling knowing that they have a huge advantage on you.
Not even to mention the insurance costs. Most people do not even begin to know how much little unseen expenses there are in doing an event. Plus would your team like to be shot with some nasty pink paint that will stain on contact (which you can still buy) destroying your new team jerseys that your rookie team just got excited about buying. No they would hate it! So I hope that will give some clarification on why we done allow BYOP. XPS

XPSL SUCKS!!! Shawn cannot run a decent event and the prizes blow. BYOP will never work in Utah. Because of the same reasons Allen ran into. Local players want new cars for winning events. All of us that have played nationals know that it is tough to get any kind of sponsorship. XPS is not set up to make anybody a lot of money. It is done for the love of the sport. But if you want to try to set up a BYOP event. By all means go for it. Your entry will be about 1000 dollars and the players won't sign up.

There is a lot of behind the scenes money that goes into a tourney, XPS field paint is good and the prices are very reasonable. Hopefully the UT teams can learn from this canceled event and get registered sooner for future events.
BTW I posted back on page two asking if anyone needed an extra player, and I got zero inquires about it. I know I suck but sheesh I would've made a good decoy or something.

This all comes back to what was say several posts ago. "Local Players" All they do is WANT WANT WANT, but when it comes time to give they all disappear. So, why does everything HAVE to be a tournament. Why not just a game from time to time. Especially if registration or prizes is going to keep been an issue. I remeber when a couple of teams would meet up onthe side of the freeway and play all day. Nobody won anything... A couple of years ago, the Hawpaint guys through a game where all you to do was buy a case of paint and you were in. Air was $5 all day and there was no prizes. It was field paint only, but that was it. No registration. A lot of players and teams showed up and as far as I could tell they were having a good time.
