At the last event the prizes where donated by Dale from Peg Leg.

Good calls bad calls.....just like every other event. We had some lame calls too but we arent bitching and whining about it. That tourney was hella fun and thats why we entered to play. Not for prizes, just to have fun playing xball, cause xball is the shit. Good job to all the other teams thanks for playing.

Never Fails!

Evidently some tournament players never get their facts straight.
First, Velocity Paintball decided not to iniate any any "feeder status" this year and indicated this to the initial teams that signed up for the tournaments. This was to allow the players and Velocity to become acclimated to the X-Ball style of play. This is also why we did not require any I.D. cards this year.
Second, the refs! For the players who wish to complain about the reffing...come ref an event before you stick your foot into your mouth. Are you PSP qualified? How many X-Ball events have you personally reffed? How many tournaments have you personally promoted, financed, and prepared? The tournaments this year are also being used to train new refs...That is one of the reasons why the tourney prices are the lowest in the state!!!
Thirdly, prizes were dicated by having at least 5 teams minimum register for each of the four tournaments. Also, the teams had to play in at least three of the four tournaments to qualify for the final tournament prizes. Points were accumulative. This was made clear! Check out the Velocity website (YOU DID READ IT DIDN'T YOU? PROBABLY NOT!)
Finally, the X=Ball tournaments at Velocity were brought in to give the players a chance to play X-Ball and have fun! Evidently some players
get to wrapped up in their egos to understand that! If and when Velocity Paintball fully promotes and entertains the full PSP formats and rules, we'll be ready! Some players never will be!!! If you have to complain, be qualified to do so and be prepared to come and ref an event!

Velocity Paintball and the PSP have agreed to an "affiliation". This affiliation is a multi-stage event, leading to a point system and Velocity Paintball becoming a PSP "feeder" in a very short time. This short time will allow for teams to form, to adjust player and team classifications, and for Velocity Paintball to set up all logistics and operations. It doesn't end there! It just gets better!!

I got that from your web site. How does your foot taste? And if you aren't a feeder event you probably should not use the PSP logo and mislead people that way.

dont worry velocity guys, the tournament was fun, ran pretty well for just one field, field was nice, things were good. Reffing will never be perfect and some people wont understand that. Bad calls will be made but at least they stick to the call and dont flip it around and cause confusion. Any one that has reffed knows how lame and hard it is, and xball is a fast pace game and calls need to be made fast. Good or bad its the reffs call and bitching about it only gets you penalties and bitching about it her doesnt help anyone. If you went into that tournament to win and get prizes you went in for the wrong reason. We entered just to have fun and play the ONLY local xball tournament. We took first and arent complaining about not getting any prizes cause it was a good fun day. THanks again velocity, and thanks to the refs for doing their best all day in that heat.

Ya know,

After leaving the field saturday at 10:00 PM (having been there since 6:00 AM) 16 hours and the same amount of time the day before.... I was so tired that I started getting dizzy and light headed and all I could think of was hoping that the event (maybe even with some questionable calls) was enjoyed by the most that were there.

As far as forums go-- it still dosent cease to amaze me how disrespectful some can be to people working their a** off so you can have some local events in our state. I think I speak for anybody in this state who promotes big paintball events when I say how draining and depressing it is when their whole event gets ridiculed because someone gets a few bad calls.

I think its clear to most who have been playing in the Velocity PSP tournament series that the prizes were based on cumulative points (best three out of four) series that will be awarded at the end of the season. We are trying to put together the best possible prize package we can given a $150 team entrance fee and $45/case of PREMIUM paint. And if you think thats a lot of money (given the cost to put these on)... you dont know ANYTHING about paintball economics in Utah, or running a field. Thats all I really have to say about that... Its too bad that some people cant come out and play a good game of paintball if they are not getting a prize. If thats the type of paintball you are looking for, I would suggest attending much larger events (where you will likely pay more for your entrance then you will likely get back in prizes)...

As for saying things about the refs... I challenge ANYBODY to ref a paintball tournament for 11 HOURS and call the game perfectly. I just really think its immature to rag on refs who sacrifice their whole saturday to make sure it stays as fair as possible. I honestly just think its pathetic, REGARDLESS of what call was made or not made.

I can honestly say that I made some mistakes Saturday (as I have with every tournament we have had this season), but atleast I can say that I am trying to do my best in my FIRST year of doing these tournaments.

Now im sure someone will have some kind of rebuttle to everything I have said in this message, but let me respond before you even post...

Come sit down with me face to face and I will go over the cost, time, and everything else required to hold these events, and let me know your concerns so I can try to make the next event better. But to come in here and call names... heh, pathetic

529-0276 if you want to call

P.S. A HUGE thank you to all the teams that came and had some fun. AND a huge thanks to the teams and players in particular that came up, gave me a pat on the back, and said "thank you so much for doing this"... Its you guys and those that try to have fun that will make paintball grow in Utah, and make me want to put in more 16 hour days.

P.S.S. If you call me... ask me how much money I personally made this weekend,, You might be REALLY REALLY surprized.

Without explaining this anymore.. Its not my fault you DONT know how to read.. Nuff said... And since you obviously have nothing good to say about anyone, and choose to flame...Instead of doing something about it myself, I will make sure neil knows about your posts.

This event was fun, although at times, it was not. Overall though, it was fun. I enjoyed meeting new people, and hanging out with current friends. Thats great you guys are trying to train new refs. Thats all I feel that could have been improved upon. Organization could have also been a little better. Other than that, get your refs to become knowledgeable and accustomed to the rules, and this series could go far. It will go even farther if you do become a true affiliate of the PSP, create room for more high quality fields such as the current field, and advertise your PSP affiliate to surrounding states.
