Keep the money in Utah and Utah will grow on the Map......
ps.....
3.The local paintball stores can only do so(provide fields) if people buy from them.
4.Local stores are here for the business, provide places to chill, tech tips, repairs, and because they enjoy the hobby.
5. Refer to the business side, when stopping by shops and listen to yourself......I hope your first words arent......"What kind of deal can you make me?"
6. Know that if you are a valued customer, shop there frequently, and support your local store, they (the workers, owners of the store) are more likely to randomly hook you up with better deals.....

krispy makes some great points here...let me add to it.
Each of us has a limited amount of money to spend on entertainment and paintball is entertainment. no matter what you choose to do it costs a grundle of cash. examples

if you ski - it's 25-50 bucks to rent $3-800 to buy a set up plus a lift ticket is, what? $30-75 so if you go for the day with gas, food, skis, lift ticket it's not hard to spend $100 bucks

Golf - green fees 25-50 bucks, 300-1000 for a nice set of clubs, gas and food you easy spend 75-100 bucks

Movie and dinner - if you get a date wife/girlfriend dinner is 25-40 bucks, movie is $15, popcorn and such 15 more you have spent $55 to 70 bucks. 1/2 that if your a loser and can't get a date 😁

I could go on... but you all get my point. It all cost money to have fun.

If you love paintball like I do...then it's worth every darn dime to have a place , where there is a rest room, fresh paint, free air, some food or snacks, managment that cares and decent refs.

Kids it boils down to this... support your local shops and fields if you want paintball to grow. if you want it to die, then by all means spend your $$$ at wallmart and the internet..... Now if a field or store is a total ripp-off then don't support it. But if they offer a competive price with good service ther is no need to bust their balls for a buck or two in price.

Last thing if you want earn a season pass or some discount on paint then PM Velocity1 or 2 and offer to work a few saturdays helping put Velocity togather. Yes I said HARD work!! but it's fun and you are helping grow paintball.

Ok I am done thanks 🙂

Amen brotha. Amen.

BTW, Allen, I've got a question- what brands/names of paint will you be offering at the field?

Custom Paint with Custom Logos.
Similar to Tork, Chronic, new Cryptic.

BTW: There are lots of people involved in getting this running more than me. I am doing some of the PR but lots of the hard work is being done by Velocity 1 & 2, Pale Rider, Kamakazi, team Frantic, Cory and lots of other Volunteers...

Velocity is a combined effort of lots of dedicated people....

Over in Ohio and the Midwest you have to pay an arm and a leg for paint...heck, just look at PB Addicts down in Salt Lake. They're FPO so they know people will be willing to pay $65/case. That's the kind of ripoff pricing Allen has tried to avoid, and has done an INCREDIBLE job of keeping the prices beyond reasonable.

All the fields I went to in OH were FPO and charged ridiculous fees for their products and services. I can honestly say I wish I had a field like the one Allen is putting together back home. As a poor college student without time for a job, I know better than anyone how prices can put a dent in your wallet. And the fact that the field is in Ogden means our club and team members will be able to get great deals and play time instead of driving two hours each way to Salt Lake for the "best field in the area".

I really look forward to the opening of this field- I am really surprised that a field of this caliber is opening in Utah, and we should all be grateful that Allen is putting so much work and thought into this.

Thanks Allen!

Wes,
We are very confident in our paint. I have been selling this paint for several years and I get it straight from the manufacturer, it has sold very well! You worry too much!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Allen.

Velocity is very much a work in progress, but will be by far one of the nicest fields around. Even partially complete it will be the nicest field anyone in the state has ever played on and worth every $0.01.

As Pale Rider has stated, this is a hobby. I'll gladly show up for each and every work project with my tools and ready to work to improve the field. I have a vested interest. #1 to better the facilities and #2 to offset the cost of my hobby.

PB addicts - Case of paint $65
Unlimited air - $5
Entrance fee - $10
Total with tax to play for a few hours indoors - $86

Now don't get me wrong, PB addicts was fun and has a place for the sport of paintball in Utah. However, after working at Velocity this weekend and seeing everything that it has to offer, you might want to check it out. There is a hyper-ball field that looks to be over an acre in size! It's graded very smoothly and will have all the normal features seen in tournaments. Another field is the town (yet to be named). There are a dozen buildings that are being covered with Stucco and painted. It will look very similar to an old west town and will be tough to play in. For you rec-ball fans, the woods rival anything I-84 has to offer. Assaulting inside the forest will certainly be fast, close, and difficult. The woods do have many open areas too to try out the efficiency of your flatline A5 barrel if you desire.

In between playing, you will have a chance to rest up and grab a quick snack or drink.

By playing at Velocity, you will guarantee a future for the sport in Utah by allowing it to develop more. It has a good start already, but needs your support to grow. Utah has NO good fields where customers can choose what type of experience they want. Hyper ball, speed ball, rec ball, whatever your flavor, it's there!

As a non-native to Utah, I've heard grumblings from some that they will never play there because of some allegiance to a team, store, or field. I can't understand that closed mind approach to any sport! Where I'm from, when a new field opened EVERY person who handled a marker from time to time at least came and experienced what it had to offer. If you want to put Utah on the map and not be only be considered as a state where drinking is illegal and every store is closed on Sunday (many people think that) then do something about it. Try every field, visit all the stores, invite people you barely know to play, challenge a different team every week , do something, do anything, just don't do nothing. Don't get me wrong, playing paintball at Velocity won't get Utah on the cover of U.S.A. Today proclaiming a new era of openness. What it will do is show the people who make paintball a business that it's worth investing more capital in this area. Paintball like any sport revolves around money, the more you spend, the better things get. It's a constant cycle that involves you and local business. When you see all of the good teams and players in paintball magazines, how many on a normal basis are in Utah? What does Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and California have over the quality of people here? Do they work harder, have natural better aim, faster fingers, or some other inherited trait? No, all they have is more exposure and more players because the market is there. When the market is there, more stores and fields open meaning a higher quality of player and game. That also means lower prices and more of you employed in the sport you love so much.

Get out, have fun, and enjoy the sport.

Hua!

Well, said!!!!

100% agreed; due to my duties, I've seen lots fields and many local stores in different states and different countries. I concur with AF Guy about Utah's current status in the Paintball world (I do mean; world).

However; (food for thought and being devil's advocate) preference, allegiance, and loyality "is still apart of the equation."

I am enjoying the enthusiasm floating around in here. I am thankful as well for the comments and support people have put into the field. Even though Velocity is a working progress, there is a lot to come so long as we can get the support.

When Velocity opens we will still have a lot of work going on, but we promise to have 3 rec fields open-- The Jungle, the urban town (name still pending) 🙂 and we are looking to have our "riverside" field open as well. We will also have an airball field up and running, even though it will not be in the area we have designated because we are waiting for the grass to grow 😉 We will have food, restrooms, and great staff.

What I hope to convey in this message is that Velocity is "still under construction", but will still offer more than anything else available in this area when we open. So we look forward to your support and hope everyone will be pleased.

By the way, we will be out there again Saturday (as well as wednesday, and friday--weather pending) to hopefully get a lot done, so anyone who wants a tour and a desire to help out and volunteer for some discounts, then feel free to join us. PM me if you are interested in coming on wednesday (mar, 30th) or friday (apr, 1st).

Thanks again everyone.
