I have played in a great deal of torunaments and watched many more games and I can honestly say that every team I have played or watched play has had shady play or players playing on. This is quite the high horse you have jumped on and with that statement you could be viewed as an hypocrisy.

Ya, not everyone cheats, but everyone bends the rules, I mean how many times have you argued that you shot a guy first when deep down you know you really didn't. I have found many loop holes that I have used and gotten away with it for example, when a ref pulls a one-for-one, and you run when you see him coming strait for you after he pulls your team-mate. There technically isn;t a rule against it, but many see it as cheating. So the fact is that if it's cheating or bad calls, it's part of the game, and we have to learn to live with it.

Wow, I have been watching this thread since it started and have been keeping my mouth shut for some time now. But now I think I will give my ten cents.

Because most of us on 801 use aliases and other forms of hiding behind a screen I personally don’t know who is saying what. Unless you have gone out and told people what your user name is and such most people have no clue who wrote what. With that said some of you know who I am and some of you don’t. For that you have an edge over me.

I would like to thank the MWXPL staff for a wonderful time. It was a good time all year. Because of what the MW has been trying to do, we (meaning all the paintball players) have been able to play in some real good tournaments. These tournaments have had good locations, good grass and great competition. Thanks for all you have done.

Now you guys who know me know that I have been playing tourney ball for just a couple of years. I have reffed tourneys and scenarios. I have been out there taking pictures as well. But the thing that is starting to get to me here is the attitudes of you players.

Such is the reason for my post. You all have this attitude that you are better and the only reason you didn’t win for your team is because the ref made a bad call. You know what, sometimes it happens and it is true, but (and here is another topic in and of itself) this is where the “Fish Story” of paintball comes in, it was a good call.

For as long as I have been in tourney ball, I have seen Ballistic (the UT team) in almost every event I play in. And as the years (and many events) have come and gone, Ballistic (and now Ballistic by FixMyGat.com, BallisticYG) have been the ones who have always said “we got screwed” or something to that effect. Ballistic has always been the ones that have been the one arguing. Either because it was pulled against them, or they pulled it against someone else.

So what I am saying here is yeah cheating happens in paintball. But just like Dan said (and many others before him in other topics and forums) cheating happens in all sports. Does it make it right? NO. But from the beginning of time rules have been set and rules have been broken and bent.

Is cheating something you and I can stop?
Hmmm, think about it. I know I can’t stop you from cheating because I am not going to ref a tournament that I don’t have to (unless a sponsor says “you are reffing this event because…”) because I would rather play the event. So instead I will be the one shooting the balls at you so you can continue to practice wiping. It is an agreement you and I can have. But as for you, if you think you can make better calls and stop the cheating then please by all means go ref. I would love to have you on the field making those great calls. But until I see you on the field as a ref trying to catch the “cheaters” why don’t you start at square one and that is start with yourself. Set the example.

One other thing that I would like to address is someone somewhere on this thread said that they were screwed out of the finals because of this call. I don’t understand how this is. Didn’t Ballistic take 3rd? Isn’t 3rd considered a finals position? And another point I would like to state that seems to be missing in this is your second game you didn’t win. Ballistic didn’t get a flag pull, or flag hang. Ballistic timed out and got very few points. Even winning this game I don’t think (and I am thinking purely on my own here with no facts so take this for what it is worth) but I don’t think you would have had enough points for 2nd place anyways. Again I could be wrong but that is how I am seeing it and with out the actually scores we may never know.

I have ranted on long enough and I have stated a lot above and am prepared to take the PM of hate and the posts of hate towards me in this thread as well. I am sure I will get some extra balls my way as well. But the statements I am trying to make here is:

Cheating happens - only you can make the first attempt to fix it. Stop doing it yourself! Then you can move on and ref to catch others.

Ballistic whines – you guys have done this for as long as I have seen you at events. Play your game. You guys are a bunch of good players and have lots of talent. Pull it together and take it to the field.

Anyways let’s all put it past us now and move on. Just think of it this way, we was just trying to get a head start as to what was going to happen at the NPPL with Joy and Dynasty.

Krow, I don't know you but you sure can sling the BS. My guys aren't whinning and complaining about the reffs calls. The calls were amended and reversed. What they are talking about is that Dan amitted that he had to cheat in order to beat us. If someone on one of my teams ever did that they wouldn't be playing for me anymore. As you know if you are winning you must be cheating, if you loose everybody is your friend. Luckly we have been doing some winning. We have allways been there to help other teams with broken guns, hoppers etc. We have set up or own practice field because we got tired of the politics that went along with public practices. Utah teams need to learn how to get along before they will ever be able to compete nationally. This thread was started to discuss the last MWXP not cause turmoil between teams.
And yes had we been aloud to finish the game and won it we would have gone into the finals in 2nd place by 13 points.

The easiest way to keep someone from playing on/wiping is to shoot them so many times they either:

a) can't possibly wipe them off

b) you've shot them so many times in the face they can't possibly shoot you back

I did this in a UXPL and it turned out somewhat badly because I ended getting pulled for malicious overshooting, but I'm pretty sure he is going to think twice about playing on next time.

As far as the reffing I definitely feel for ya Ballistic it sucks to have a call against you especially when it takes you out of the finals.
