I like 7 man format better. Reason being is that teams that do travel to attend larger events get to use these local events as somewhat of a practice.

More Thanks

Thanks for the continued input.

What about both a 5man and 7man formats ???

Like 1/2 entry for teams who enter twice ??

Zen and the Art of the Tournament

Allow me to explain a bit... Unike other tournaments the UXPL is not about what "I the promoter Wants".

Its about "What Players want". Myself and others on the executive comitee are collecting input and we will try to find a concensus. We are collecting input from many sources both in person, online and other ways.

My guess right now is that since we have been running 5 man events we will complete the 2004 season with a 5 man format. However if there is interest in a 7-man event then I will explore ways to make that happen.

There is also a possibility of eventual affiliation with a major body such as the NPPL or PSP and as such we will adopt thier rules for most events. NPPL is 7 Man as is XPSL. XPSL is the most likely series for local teams to attend and they use a 7 man format, hence there is some good reasons to consider a 7 man fomat as a good local training ground for XPSL & NPPL events.

PSP is X-Ball and 5-man and 10-man formats but only a few teams locally even attend thier events as they tend to be east cost oriented.
5-man is easier to collect a team for and we will probably continue offering them but we are considering adding 7-man events as well.

Hope that makes sense...

Not many people could afford the paint cost to play an X-Ball format tournament

I think that We should have both 5 and 7 man events next year. Maybe keep Battle in the park 5 man, but then have one in July or Sept as a 7 man. Then have one X-ball event so that teams can save some serious cash for paint. I think that the UXPL should do both 5 & 7 man. I think Allen has an awesome long term vision becoming affiliated with a larger tournament scene. It allows Utah players to compete against local and some regional teams while also being able to have larger prize packages and more visibility with the public.

You could do 3 5man events and 2 7man events. If the 7 man is more popular, then change it to 3 7man and 2 5man for the next season.

I prefer 5 man but 7 is good too. No xball, to expensive. We will have a team there regardless what format
