My .02 is that if you dont like a place, just stop going. There really wasnt a need for all that on the other site. I read it all and thought it was a real dumb thing to do. If you dont like a person, just avoid them. I have a huge respect for rick and anyone else that is willing to endorse a sport that i love in an area that has a lot of room to grow.
Back when we first formed breakout and some of the places that we play at today, pegleg was basically running the market. Prices were outrageous. Now we have a lot of competition and prices are lower. Hopefully with everyones help we can get NPPL and PSP events to come to SLC one day. Possibly even have a SLC team.

Just my opinion, you dont have to agree with it.

If it was a real Denial of Service attack then you would NOT be able to get their page saying "they have Frozen the forums"

Bottomline: If you can see thier pages then they are not being denied service...

Just from what I've read and seen. I get the feeling UtahPB saw that everyone was starting to jump ship and talking negatively about them on their own site they decided to shut it down. I'm sure the last thing Rick wants is to have his sponsers check out their site and see all the negative posts.

I also saw some posts talking about how all utah forums get DOS'd within the 1st few weeks of going online EXCEPT UTAHPB. I saw a few people thinking that was suspicious and even possibly pointing the finger at UTAHPB as being the culprit of the DOS'ing to other Utah forums.
Now, I'm not making any accusations one way or another but the 1st thing I thought when I saw their web site this morning ( a web site that you can still get to: Allen's QOUTE: If it was a real Denial of Service attack then you would NOT be able to get their page saying "they have Frozen the forums"
Bottomline: If you can see thier pages then they are not being denied service...
Something about this smells fishy..) was that they were claiming DOS attacks to try to make it look like they were getting attacked just like everyone else does.

Just the feeling I got when I saw their message.

Actually the feeling I 1st got was that the Gov. HAD shut them down for suspicion of DOS and spamming other sites. Then I read it again and realized if that was a message from the admin and if the Gov was responsible I wouldnt even be able to get to the site in the 1st place. Allen just beat me to the post.

Is that what happens say when you go to google or yahoo and type utah paintball and all that comes up is their stuff instead of bringin up all the other utah paintball places.....

I am working on the complete story as to why it was shut down and I will post it in the next hour or so when I can confirm a few facts....

What the notation you asked about is an acronym for Denial of Service or (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service or (DDoS)

The whole 801paintball thread talks about DoS attacks and had Neils link to a security acticle explaining it all.
