Hey everybody, good to see that some of you have already made it back. Yes, we were down the entire, long, excrutiating weekend, plus a day on either side just for good measure. We're still not 100% sure what happened, but it involved statewide backbone outages, some uncooperative support people, our IP getting null routed by a national backbone provider, and, finally, the return of 801paintball.
We apologize for the downtime, and hope you guys still want to hang out here, even after you were abandoned. We're doing everything we can to make sure it doesn't happen again, and to make sure this is the best paintball community we can make it. If there's anybody out there wishing ill for 801 Paintball, know this: We are not going away, ever. Our resolve may be tested, but never broken. We are simply trying to foster a community here, and if that presents a problem for anyone, I would suggest you find constructive ways to deal with it, because there's nothing you can do to deter us. To everybody else, enjoy the site, we'll be adding some features and making some changes soon that should make things even better. Nate

Well thanks for the hard work to get the site back up. I realize that it's a lot of work and work that you've taken on as extra duities in addition to silly things like your jobs and families 😲 .
I personally appreciate the time that was spent to bring this system back on line. __________________

Investigation & History of Attacks First and foremost welcome back and thanks for your hard work with the providers...... now things get "Curiouser and Curiouser" to quote Alice.
Nate do you know if the backbone provider calculates enough damage in get over the $5000 damages threshhold ? It is my understanding that if so a federal agent may be assigned... Is that correct? Do you know how many servers had been co-opted and where the attacks were coming from? History: I am not sure how many people are aware that there is a history of attacks against New Utah paintball comunity sites. Derek the owner Battle grounds launched a site called paintballutah.com and with in a week it was hacked, he got it back up and it was hacked again. Currently its not even functional and I am not sure why. I just find it VERY suspicious that both paintballutah and 801paintball have been delibertly attacked by somone... I do not believe that this serious of a DoS attack was simply random. I personally would appreciate any hard information about the attacks, if it is possible to share with us. Dont think so... To my knowledge there has never been a deliberate attack on the old utahpb.com site or the newer utahpaintaball.info websites.

There's a couple of other guys who did a lot more to get it up than I did, so I'll pass along the thanks. As far as damages to the provider, they're being very tight-lipped about the whole affair. "Our Network, Our Problem" is what we get back on pretty much any question. From what I can gather, they have started with legal remedies, but it's unlikely they will be keeping us in the loop. We do, however, have some logs that will be sifted through for any information. If anything comes up, we'll let you guys know.

You said the server you co-locate on was DosD. what else is on that server? It might not have been after you but after someone else. I know that almost weekly utahpb has something wrong but it usually is backup in a couple hours. All of that stuff is traceable so if someone intentionally did you they will get caught but it might not have been someone looking at you. If you co-locate on a large server there could be hundreds of websites on a single box.
