but they can't have the refs following they guys all over the feild. there would have to be enough of them that without really moving, they could see what was happening on the whole feild.

Don't worry about refs, I have more than enough to visually control all players on the field. I encourage local teams to register for the Utah event in advance because all of the other events have already reached capacity. The Utah regional already has 4 teams registered and I would imagine a few teams from the other regions that fail to qualify for the finals will attend the Utah SPPL as a last chance to play in the final event for the big money and media coverage.
*Remember that entry fee is only $200 for your entire team! So this is likely to sell out quickly* Last edited by cornstar : 06-05-2005 at 05:14 PM. | |||||

I really don't think refing will be a problem. As far as I know in tournament play you are not penlized for playing on (at least not very much). But if you are caught playing on according to SPPL rules, your entire team is penlized points that could easly cost you the game. With that kind of risk I would be afraid of being kicked off the team if I cost them a game, or even a tournament just because I was unwilling to hike back to the staging area. Think of it this way: If Shaq cost his team 5 points every time he fouled somebody, he would either learn how to stop shoving people around, or be out of a job. If you read the rules for the SPPL, the max typical points either team combined is about 270pts. The penalty for whiping is 40pts or about 15% of BOTH team's scores. Thats a pretty heafty penalty, enough that I doubt people are going to try it much. Playing on is worth a 20pts hit, not quite as bad, but it can still hurt your team's score pleanty. The rules are laied out, and they arn't going to let anybody off easly for violating them. If you don't like it, go play at the milemarker... __________________

😎 sppl At velocity they have played some of the rec games using this format and the responce was as expected the airball fans though it was lame and the others and newplayers thougt it was fun. I have refed tourys in the woods way back and found that though it is a lot more work it can be done. You need to use refs with lots of experince. I think that the way to get more and better fields in utah is to have a major events here.
