Bullet bikes

Lookin at the possibility of pickin up a bullet bike?

Let me know your thoughts on the various bikes out there.

Heard a bit about honda's and yamaha's

Any thoughts that are detailed and brief explanations of why such bikes are good would be appreciated. Any links to websites that talk about such options would be helpful as well. I'll be doing google searches as well.

Thanks

Well it has been a while since I have looked at bullet bikes. But when I was looking I really like the Honda CBR. The reason I liked them more then the others was that they was a lot more comfortable. Think about trying to do a three hour drive in that position and the CBR was more comfortable.

If you are looking at price then I would recommend the CBR 600RR. They have one that is about $500.00 cheaper but like I said I don't know much about them anymore. But it's name is CBR 600F4i. It looks like the main difference in the two are the RR is liquid cooled and a little more heavier then the F4i. I would tell you to go out and try them though.

Here is the honda motorcycle link though that will allow you to see what the difference is and any other question you might have.

Good luck

I ride dirt bikes and from my experience I would go with the Honda. I am only 14 so I have only riden a bullet bike once it was a Yamaha R1 I bielive and it was way fast. I know Honda has the best suspension, Yamaha has the most Power. I dont know but about the Kawasaki or Suzuki. All the bikes are pretty similar so you cant really go wrong with any manufacturer.

my brother has a yamaha r6. My other friend has a honda cbr. My choice would be the ducati. It's the best bike out there, the problem is that it cost about the same as the bmw bike. If you are going for speed the honda has the most cc's, if you are going for weight and speed yamaha is a good choice. It all depends if money or weight is an issue for you.

You can probably already guess what bike I have. Anyways I bought it brand new, it's been down twice. I've replaced two sets of fairings on it and a few other parts (headlamps, controls, brake pedals etc.) and it still runs great. I recommend the F4i, RR or GSX. My cousin has the R6 which I don't like. I've talked to a couple people who used to have Ducatis and said they would never get another one because they weren't reliable and are expensive to fix. The japanese bikes are a lot like highly upgradable paintball guns. Lots of parts available everywhere. Also, a 600 cc is more than you'll ever need. Very maneuverable and more power and capability than you'll come close to ever using. Unless your a pro racer.

I used to ride a Yam YZF 750... great bike... a bit too heavy... faster and more scary than I wanted... got rid of it and got a Honda CBR600F2 (shows how long ago I rode bikes) Great bike... perfect fit for long rides... not too heavy, not too powerful, yet you can make it that way if you choose.
I wanted a GSXR when they came out with fuel injection... but at the time they were talking major bucks! Now...if I were to get another bike, Id go back to Honda... the CBR600F4i is a great bike... fuel injected... so no worries about cold morning starts... and the comfort of a honda. IMO the MOST comfortable bike out there (but I wouldnt be caught dead on it) the Katana 600/750... but its (as known in the bullet biker world) A Kan-a-Tuna!

Mine is a 2002. I got it brand new for $8200 and put almost $2000 into it. It wasn't my first bike, which was a 198? Yamaha 850 Midnight Special. I think sport bikes are easier to ride than other bikes. If you get one you should join the USBA and take their track classes. You will learn a lot of valuable info. Obviously you could pick one up now for a lot cheaper.

600 or 1000

600 are definetly lighter than the bigger models (except for the cbr1000rr) but i prefer the acceleration of the 1000s. but if you like power and lightweight the cbr1000rr is the ultimate bike. though it can be hard to hang on to.

ps if youve never ridden a bike then i would buy a piece of crap first to learn or buy both at the same time.
but if you at least know how to ride then just buy the bike you want and take it easy at first getting to know it.

That's great that you want to get a crouch rocket, but you've not mentioned how much riding experience you have. That has alot to do with what type of bike you plan on getting. If you don't have any, are you going to take a riding course? If you don't have any expience, start with a mid displacement duel purpose bike. Honda and Susuki both make some nice 400's. They're easier to ride, you sit up higher so you can see traffic better. You can take them in the dirt and learn to slide em and do wheelies and do stoppies. They don't accelerate as fast but still go fast enough to kill you. If it's your first bike and you just gotta have a street bike, start with a Kawi Ninja 250. They're cheap, easy to work on, and will out accelerate any car shy of a turbo Porsche. Once you have several hundred miles under your butt, then get a 600.
