Yeah a sport bike isn't the best kind to start out on, they are not easy to control. Two guys at my work both bought sport bikes, an SV and a Ninja at the same time. Within two months both guys had laid them over in two different instances. And find out about insurance, it can be outrageous depending on your age, etc.

But I would say if you had to have one go with an SV, those are good beginner bikes. The numbers I've seen on a Ninja 250 0-60 are like 5.5-6 secs (professional rider), a Porchse Turbo does 0-60 in like 3.5-3.6 seconds. Or you can get a Hayabusa and kill yourself 🙂

Sport bikes

Are you planning on just cruising around, or are you going to do some knee dragging like the Hayden brothers? If all you need is a bike to get around on, then there are several "naked" sports bike out there that will be cheaper on the insurance because they don't have the body work. How much riding time do you have? I have had 11 bikes over the last 20 years, 8 street, and 3 dirt. All the street bikes were exotic 2 strokes, TZ's, RZ's, NSR's,very fast, very scary, loved them. All my riding freinds have had crashes. One freind crushed his pelvis, when he "T-boned" a van. I used to be a bike mechanic for Yamaha dealerships. One of the jobs that I got was replacing their mechanic who got killed on his street bike. I have had 4 accidents, me vs a car, and 3 lay downs on my own. Plus I don't know how many spit off's on the dirt bikes. I don't want to rain on your parade, but have you seen the way people drive in Utah? With my last street bike here in Utah, I had someone purposely swerve to run me off the road, because I passed them in the right lane! I speak from thousands of miles of experience, if you want to ride street bikes, you will crash. It's not a question of if, but when. So be prepared for some down time from paintball.
