Thanks Mick,
I have tried to do that with a couple cities in Davis county and they get all uptight about it. Paintball's destroyin the grass etc..

I guess it just depends on the city..

Good Luck with your local area..

Showdown did not screw things up for paintball in Herriman. I worked at Showdown for years and was very aware of what was going on. There were people that moved in on the Showdown boundary that didn't like the paintball players near there home. No matter what we did and no matter how far away we kept the fields, the home owner wasn't happy. Eventually he was able to convince the community and the local government that Showdown wasn't good for the community.

Couple that with the fact that there were people playing in the Rose Canyon area and not respecting the surrounding area. It was an easy decision for the city to boot out paintball.

Never had the chance to play at showdown but it looked fun. I voted adrenaland because I like the staff and when the airball field is up it is a pretty nice field.

With that mentality, then you neeed to blame Adrenaland and Planet for all the signs that have been shot up around 90th south, blame Splat for all the birds that have been shot near Antelope island, blame Action Sports and Flash's Sharp Shooters for all the deer shot in the Mountain Green/Morgan area, blame JR's for all the shootings in the Sunset/Roy area blame Wild West for all the items that were shot around the Fair Grounds and blame Addicts for anything shot in their area. Then we need to pick who to blame for all the signs shot in Parleys Canyon. And what about the individual neighberhoods, should I take the blame for the couple of mailboxes that have been shot in my subdivision? This is obviously absurd.

Each player has a mind of their own and makes their own decisions. Some make better decisions than others to promote the sport.

I'm sorry you can't play in Herriman, it's bad for you and bad for the sport, but blame the RIGHT people. Find the people who shot the deer, cars, and houses.... blame them. The people that I knew to be shooting deer, cars, signs, etc don't even play anymore and haven't played paintball for years. And didn't even last that long when they did play regularly

I guarantee you that Dale and the Showdown staff were not the people shooting deer, cars and signs. We took every precaution we could to prevent that. Could it be completely stopped, obviously not. But we did refuse service to people we knew were shooting signs, which helped to reduce the problem because those peope no longer visited Herriman. But as I said, people make thier own decisions.

Part of our solution involved stopping and cleaning objects that we saw were hit while we were driving home for the night. Occasinally we even left notes on parked cars appologizing for the hit, noted that we cleaned it up and invited the owner to come play. Sometimes is worked, sometimes it didn't.

We attended hearings and organized speakers to educate people with regards to paintball. Yes we lost the hearings that involved playing in Herriman, but we were able to convince the county to not shut down paintball completely at the time. A lot of what Dale and his staff did in Herriman has made it possible for our current fields to be able to go into business without as much work.

Again, I'm sorry people can't play in Herriman but please point your frustration in the proper direction.

I agree Cory. It is the same thing saying you have to blame the company for every area that incidents happen.

Agreed, Blame the right people.

Anywho, until you have done something yourself to promote and make paintball better or more recognized as a great sport/hobby, don't go raggin on people that did a great job, and work continually to promote paintball and help it grow in Utah.

Also, purchase all your paintball gear locally, be it Addicts, Adrenaland, Pegleg, Xtreme, Millenium, etc. Money that is spent in Utah can help the sport grow more. Sure it may be a bit more then off the net, but the internet doesn't provide fields, air, customer service, or jobs here in Utah.

Another idea, for the people that love to get deals, I like em as much as you do, but you dont walk into walmart or ......... and ask for deals, go in , shop, buy stuff, and your more likley that youll get hooked up being chill rather then asking for free stuff.

Back to the subject of stuff getting shot. If you play at the Airport in provo, dont shoot the tractors, John, is cool enough to let (the team from south utah county, i think, sorry i forgot your name) build the field and get it going, and now its a great place that Streamline, Breakout, and others get to practice at. Be thankfull for the places that are available, when new places open and they charge a few bucks to get it goin, realize like someone else said, paintball doesnt make a lot of cash, they are running it cus they enjoy the sport and want it to grow and have fun.
