REAL Handguns 9 mm or .40
I would say .45 but the ammo is a bit too much for me and I'm not a fan of reloading. Springfield Armory or Kimber? I already have a xd 9 and want either another 9, or a .40. Any ideas? __________________

Go with the .45 it is woth the extra money, like $1.00 - $1.50 more per box than a .40. Also go with a Kimber if you like the 1911's.

I have a HK USP and I love the gun. I would go with the 9mm if you are going to shoot a lot but if you want if for defense to with the 40. I would also go with the Kimber. I have a HK FP6 shotty that has all the upgrades and have never had a problem with both. The thing I like about my USP pistol is that I can shoot crappy cheap ammo and not jam.

If you are going to spend that much on a handgun, why would you go with a 9mm to save so little on ammo? I would prefer to shoot a little less and go with at least a .40, but I am a .45 fan all the way. Thats just how i roll. .40 cal is becomming more and more popular though.

Take at look at these FBI statistics. http://apollo.demigod.org/~zak/firearms/fbi-pistol.php?sort=pen1
I personally prefer a .45 to the 9mm because of the history of the round. The .45 has an interesting history going back to the early 1900's. During the Spanish American War, the Spanish army was using native Phillipino's to attack American troops. The Spanish would take piano wire and wrap it tightly around the Phillipino mens scrotum (yes, a tight wire on the old nut sack). The Spanish would promise to remove the wire if they over-ran the American lines. These poor guys would run like wild men towards the Americans. The standard issue revolver was a .38 (cousin of the 9mm). When the Phillipinos would get hit, the smaller round would not put them down in a single shot and they kept on coming. The U.S. Army immediately put out an order for a more powerful round to put someone down quickly. That's when John Browning developed a early model of the 1911A, the 1903 (I think it was a 1903.....). If you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend a Kimber compact. Springfield is also nice, but I love the feel of a Kimber in my hand (personal preference). Anyway, go to your local gun store and handle a bunch of guns. If it doesn't fit well in your hand, you will have no accuracy when it counts. | |||||

Friend of mine just picked up a ported xd9 4 inch...
Very nice gun... Shoots sweet...Although it is..different to have more of the repercussion coming back at you with the porting.... Now I am interested in picking up a new rifle, gotta love Bush for letting the brady bill pass by... He knows that we as Americans must be able to protect ourselves in case of an invasion... word __________________
