Would You Pay?

Would you or your team pay for a video of your team at an event like the UXPL, The Summer Games, or any other local event??

Post your comments below!!

Depends on the quality, if you are sitting in the same place my wife is that would be a definite no. However, if you were in, say; a crows nest perspective with decent closeups and photography, I would consider paying around $50

James,
I have looked extensively at this and I would like to incorporate video into my events, but the economics don't support it.

If teams want they can shoot with DVD Cams now and have simple video and there is no cost, so you must provide Professional Video.

The cost for a daily shoot with two professional HD cameras is around $4000 and post production is another $2000-5000, for professional work.

If every team bought a DVD at $50 that is $1200. But $1200 does not provide enough money to pay for cost.

I think the economic factors are why so many "paintball Video" companies come then dissapear in a year or two.

Thanks Allen. I was just pondering it the other night and thought about investing in a HD camera. There is just no video at the local paintball events. I think that teams and even the event corrdinbators would like tio have it no one has done it though

If you filmed each event and then put out a highlights type tape of the entire UXPL season that might get more attention than a per event video.

A highlights video of the whole season would be neat. I have thought of doing this before and I've filmed some paintball in the past, but I don't have the quality video equipment needed. The hardest part for me was all the editing and all the time involved with that. Fortunately my wife used to work as a video editor and was a big help.

The problem with paintball video is if you've seen one you've seen them all. The only video I would be interested in is a shot looking straight down over the center 50 that can see the whole field. Figure out a "cost effective" way to shoot that and I'd buy a copy of all my teams games.

This would be a great training video to see the movement of your team and what you did right/wrong.

I agree that if you have seen one paintball video you have seen them all. The difference in this case is that you will actually be able to see yourself in the video. The videos that you get from DerDer and MWAG are good videos but they are always of the same teams. If I had to choose between paying $30.00 for a video that is of a national level tournament or $30.00 for something that I can see me and all of the people that I know in, I am going to pay the $30 for the latter.

Tim,
I can do that but you still won't pay for it.

Lets do some math...

Per event Professional Filming of 2 fields $4000 per event X 5 events = $20,000
Post Production for entire season $2000 (on the cheap)

Take $22,000 and assume every team buys one so there are about 30 teams that will play UXPL in a season.

$22,000 / 30 = $733.33 per DVD

So would you pay $733.33 for ALL you teams games for the entire season ?

😲 Yea didnt think so...
