So I have a question if you are planning on playing X Ball then are you going to go by psp ranking ?

Hey Spank,
Probably not since the PSP does not make thier Data available to anyone, so we could not validiate players rankings. The PSP rankings only affect a very few players, and I have no idea if "Nationally Ranked Players", like yourself would even want to play local events like this.

The only reliable ranking system for local players we have is our own UXPL Database.

Most of the X-Ball teams I have talked to in preson have requested to play against teams of similar skill level and not have a mixed Open division. Hence my post earlier about the possibility of having an all D5 leauge, or something along those lines.

If you can find 8 open division teams who want to play we could run a special X-Ball leauge just for that group.

I know the whole ranking system is complicated and messy XPSL vs. NPPL vs APL vs PSP vs CFOA, etc...

So basically what you're saying is if you've actually played real X-Ball before (PSP) then you'll be overqualified for this league, unless there is enough players to make up an 8 team league, which we know there isn't?

If that's the case that kind of sucks and I would think that would eliminate the established teams that could really do it and make it a great league, such as Addicts, Tombstone, Ballistics, etc. X-ball is a "big boy" game, and I think that if the D-6 and D-5 teams that are afraid to play anyone other than grade school girls want to X-ball, they should have enough nuts to play the better teams. They'll get waxed at first but they will catch up quick and it would only help all of Utah paintball in the long run.

Just my .02, now who needs a player?????

I think it would work out fine to lump all team in to the same group the firs year and then let it grow a bit and split it up the following year. I have no problem getting smoked by the more experienced teams so we could grow and better compete the following year so I'm all good with whatever.

Are their teams that wont play if the league has only one division? Or are people willing to do it although not the ideal setup.

I think that would work fine to have one division at first so that the league can grow further. as more and more teams get used to the format more and more teams wll play.

I think his point is that a league, to succeed. Need players. The inexperienced player or player that tend to get intimidated by more experienced players. Will stay away if you do it that way. Look at the Velocity league. There were several "super teams" and some decent rookie teams. It was fine for one tournament but who would want to play 3 D-1 or semi-pro players if it is your first year playing tourney's? A lot of people wont do it.

I understand that the more experienced players help you realize mistakes but I think it would destroy a league in it's infancy. The rules are not set in concrete I dnot think. So it may be possible to field teams with higher ranked players but not have them on the field at the same time.

Again, Allen, Is working this out. We should give him room to breathe. Everyone wanted a PSP league in Utah and he is trying to make that happen. He has done more for the local paintball scene that a lot of people and we owe him a thanks.

No, that is NOT what I am saying.

I said we will not use the PSP system becuase its not available and it has few local players in it.

I am saying there is a difference in teams skills and we should have some system to manage that. An All-star Semi-Pro team is not on the same level as some new D6 players.

As I stated in my previous post, most of the teams I have talked to who have asked me to evaluate XBall were VERY frustrated by the lack of Divisions last year. Hence we will use the current UXPL player classification system.

If a team signs up expecting a particular division mix then we will deliver as best we can. If a majority of teams want to play in an open division then fine.

The division mix is not set at this time.

I fully realize that whatever the decision is that SOMEONE will be unhappy about it.
