No, you can not censor everything you see. BUT having porn on a tv in a car? Anyone can see what tv program/movie you are watching. There have been times I know what Disney program kids are watching in a Chevy Tahoe 3 cars ahead of me. It is not like I was trying to watch the show, but it is obvious what was on. I mean, it is not like you are in the privacy of your own home. And, kids will gravitate to a tv like a dog to food on the ground. NO, we do not have to watch, but I do believe we have a civic duty to be responsible with our actions when we are in public. Even if you are in your own car. A car has windows all around. ANYBODY can see what is going on. And having porn on a tv is not much different then someone exposing themselves in a car. I just think that people should be a little more responsible. 😉

What is funny to me is that some people are defending this individual who was obviously doing something unethical and probably illegal. Pornography is a complicated issue, and with regards to its display, there is a spectrum of what you can't and can't do. One one side we have the things that are clearly wrong, and on the other there are things that are permissable. Even though many people disagree with looking at pornography in your home, it is clearly on the permissable side of the spectrum. There are many laws, however dealing with minors and sexual behavior. Even the age at which they can participate is an issue. Giving a child access to pornagraphic material is clearly on the wrong side of this spectrum, not in the gray area. It doesn't matter if your a free speech person or not. I think its silly discussing whether or not what this person was doing is wrong.

It just doesent show respect for the other people in the community. It is really to bad it has to be this way. My parents told me when they were young they didnt even lock there house! It sucks it has to be this way but sometimes you just have to accept it. Though I really think it is wrong that you have to be in that situation you cant controll what the other person is watching but I do think it should be against the law to be showing porn in public.

Agreed with Mico that there should be no discussion of whether or not porn is wrong. I was told my my uncle that if you look back through history, the downfalls of most all societies started with devious sex acts and that it leads to more and more corrupt acts.

ok this is to throw a wrench into things. What about the eurpoeans and thier nudity on public channels? Is that considered to be leud? I understand that its not on a TV in a car on a public road, but on public television wouldn't that be the same?
IMO, I do agree that what happened on the road with the porn is wrong, and shows poor judgment. However I see Americans heading down the same road as the Europeans with the Television. So when is too much, too much?

Unfortunetly it is up to the citizens of the USA to determine when enough is enough. If we do nothing and let pornography continue, we accept, through our silence, the change that will come. I believe that our country, servicemen, and our society is as strong as it is because Americans still have a sense of decency and want a better way of life. We belive in God and do not allow indecent or inappropriate acts or media to flow into the public.

As for issue of porno, soft core, unfortunetly is not prosocutable by law. However, any thing that depects implicit or simulated sexual acts (even by one person) is considered hard core and is not covered by the 1st amendment. It is illegal to transport this material across state lines.

We as a the public and community choose what is considered publicly acceptable and we can make it impossible for stores to sell hardcore porn. We can make it hard for those who sell soft porn as well by having the district attorney proscute other stores that sell inappropriate material and try and get strict laws about when and where such material can be sold.

That's my other .02.
