its all personal preference some people love egos some people hate them, some people love pm6's and some hate the, if i was you i would go down to a shop or field and see if someone there has an ego and a pm6 and if they let you shoot it play a game with it, because what happens if you get a ego and you hate how it shoots, but you bought it because everyone on here was "like get an ego omg LEET AGG" now you have to get someone to trade you for another gun and you may have to add in that case which in the long run may cost you more, so do as i said and test them out and dont limit yourself to just those guns try out a wide asortment, aka guns, aliens, infiniti products, and many others.

i think he was suggesting to test one out, but even then, whew.......... aliens are trash. santa clara xpsl, i saw about 4 of them go down, on the same team (alien paintball). but the worse was watching their back corner shoot no more than 2 pods and a loader, and he ran out of air. maybe he forgot to get it filled... but if he didnt, we found a gun thats worse than a freestyle. Anyways back to the point, it is most definetly a good idea and go shoot both at a field. Dont worry if no one has an etek, egos are pretty much the same.

yea i wasnt suggesting an alien or anyother gun for that manner, i saw those stickers on my board so those were th ones i put in first, but back to it if i was you i would actually look at buying a used gun or refurbished that way you dont need to spend the extra 200+ for the new gun and you can still have a waranty.

The significant difference is the Microswitch trigger vs. Magtetic-Optical. I would predict the microswitch will make the etek trigger "feel" very different than an Ego. So while the construction is very similar the shoot of the gun might feel very different.. I should be able to give you some personal impressions in the next couple weeks. I am on the list for some of the first Eteks that hit the country. My predition is that the Etek will be reliable like the Ego and shoot like an Ego but "feel" more like a Timmy / Matrix trigger... We shall see... π __________________

Granted that the etek may feel different, i expect the performance and dependability of the ego and etek to be almost identical. I personally love the feel of both the egos, and matrixes. although in my personal experience the egos are more dependable, but no doubt matrixes are very reliable depending if you take care of them.

I Found a dump load of info on the Planet eclipse website about the E-Tek and I'm also thinking about picking one up so here's the info that I found:
The ETek Ego is a completely new Ego designed from the ground up. Although some of the parts are interchangeable with the Eclipse Ego, such as eye covers, LPR cap, Feed Tube etc the majority of the internals, frame, trigger and body are not. They have been designed with simplicity and durability in mind, yet also keep the same high performance expected from an Eclipse Family product. In order to differentiate between the new ETek range and the Eclipse Ego6 range we have removed some User and Performance features. There is no LCD display, for example, but we have replaced it with 3 True-color LEDs that can be used to display modes, marker condition and used to quickly and easily modify and set parameters whilst in programming mode. There is the potential to have virtually all the adjustability of a standard Eclipse Ego, with ROF cap, Mode, Dwell, Debounce etc however obvious things like Peak ROF indicator, timer etc are lost once the LCD is removed. The Integrated QEVs have also been removed from the rammer system to further differentiate the performance characteristics of the two lines, as has the optical switch used in the trigger mechanism, replaced instead with a more conventional micro-switch. The ETek is designed and executed using the same philosophy as the original Ego. That is performance, durability, ease of use, ease of maintenance and ease of technical trouble-shooting. In all the areas that the Ego performs so highly in regard to durability and user-friendliness the ETek Ego has it at the very least matched. In some areas, with the removal, for example, of the QEVs, maintenance of the rammer and valve is now even further simplified. We believe that just because this is lower cost product that it shouldnβt use intelligent design or be any less user-friendly than previous Eclipse products. The ETek will accept all current β06 CCU (Color Contrast Kit) and C-Lever Clamping Feeds. It will also accept any 05 or 06 Aftermarket Bolt (Nexus, Dart Etc). It still utilizes Cocker Barrel threads, and has a standard slide-rail ASA mount on the frame. β’ Body β New 06 ETek Body. Def Tek offset feed tube, No Frame Tag slot, No Frame Tag, Body-Ported Barb Fittings for Rammer Inlets. Dual ETek Rubberised jewels, βCocker Threads β’ Feed Tube β Standard Clamping Feed Tube the same shape, size and fitting method as Ego 5 and 6 β’ Barrel β New 13β Length, reduced porting, reduced external machining, new formed stick-in rubber badge. βCocker threaded. β’ Bolt β New Shape. Much shorter version of Ego 5 Bolt. Same Ramped Top, ramped ball detent grooves, open bolt face, Drilled single hole inlet, plain shape at rear. Interchangeable with all Ego 05 and 06 bolts. β’ New Valve Chamber and Valve β Enlarged Valve chamber offers operating pressures of 250-280 psi β’ Rammer Housing β New ETek Rammer and Rammer Housing. No QEVs, but direct Fore and Aft Porting to Rammer. Does not accept any Ego 05 or 06 stock OR aftermarket rammers or rammer housings. β’ Bolt Pin β New Shape. Plain Turned Pin. Larger diameter to allow easier grip and removal β’ Ball Detents β Same as Ego 6 β’ Eye Covers β Same as β05 Ego and Ego 6 β’ LPR β Adjustable LPR. Remodelled cap. Large Valve chamber for low pressure operation. β’ FRM β New Shape and Mounting system. β’ Inline Reg β New Shape for β06 ETek, same internals as and Ego 5 and 6, Swivel Inlet β’ Frame β New Shape, larger trigger guard, single push-button, 3 x True-color LEDs, Rubberised aesthetic semi-transparent control console with EGO logo and viewing windows for LEDs, 4 x tapped bottom-line mounting holes. Capped Ramping (NPPL, PSP, Millennium compatible), and a locking facility to make tournament legal. β’ On/Off/Purge System β same as system found on SL66 β’ Break-Beam Eyes β High efficiency break-beam eyes and advanced eye logic. Auto-off default. β’ Grips β β05 Ego and Ego 6 Style mounting. Current grip is same as the existing Ego 6 grip. Soft rubber wrap-around with metal jewel Logo.
