June 17th event as I saw it.

Another UXPL has come and gone. I saw a lot of kids playing their heart's out. Some won while others lost. I wish they could all win but that isn't possible. I thought that for the most part the teams acted in a very professional and sportsmanlike fashion. There was one incident with a team coach I wont mention, but is well known to the local community. Who let loose an obscenity laced tiraid that cleared the stands. That being the only dark cloud to the event.

The tournament was run smoothly and quickly. The poor ref's were on the fields for 12 hours in the sun. These guys did a great job. When I asked a ref about a call. He politely explained the rule to me. These guys deserve a great thanks from all players. Even if you didnt like the call you got. They get shot more than you and spend the entire day dodging paint. The fact that it is held in one spot is great too. No more map questing a new field every 2 months. The bathrooms are a huge plus. I am glad there are not port-a-potties like at some fields. Food was good and accesable.

All in all I felt this was a great event in Utah. I hope the consistancy and fair play continues.

o well theysure changed and im sorry but if u are reffing on one field dont go make calls on the other one. just because it looks BAD on your part

What does it matter? A reff is a reff, what field he is on is a non issue, if he sees something and makes a call its a welcome contribution to keeping the game fair.

frank? he was on the corner of feild 2, my back and his were right next to eachother. feild 1 game satrts, feild 2 game stopped an was waiting for the team to get to the chrono. so frank turned around to watch the feild 1, , saw some things he didnt approve of, and came over 2 feild 1...... he was doing his job. yelling coaches and players from the dead box looks BAD as well.

As a long time ref of the UXPL I would like to make one comment and then let this thread go on its happy little way with the bickering. My advice is think long and hard before you make a complaint about this UXPL event. This event ran as flawless as a paintball tournament can run. The reffing from my point of view was perfect. I didn't hear of one incident that should have been handled differently. I hope that those of you that don't choose to complain for fun, will ignore those comments that come from those that do. Any negative comment that comes from this event, is completely unnecessary.
Thanks Again.

wasn't there so I can't comment, but the refs at past events have been good, it's a tough job.

So who won?

What the hell am I being blamed for now? Maybe we can blame hurricane Katrina, cancer and the lack of evidence in the O.J case on me as well. Or maybe people should let ref's ref and players play. Play clean and calls wont go against you. Thanks for coming to my defense HBK.
