Is there really such thing as a SNIPER in paintball?

Just as the Title says?

Is there really a sniper in paintball, all guns shoot relativly the same distance. ( I know there is the flat line and apex barrel) But, what does being a sniper in paintball entail?

Is it the gun?

The person?

If he plays a backman?

Do you have to be a sniper in the woods, or can you on the speedball field?

etc etc...

Im a demolition. jk. In the dictionary a sniper is pretty much someone that shoots another person from a concieled position, or something like that. So no not really.

snipers in speedball=guys with pumps that school you (aka Derek)

snipers in woodsball, here there are 2 kinds:

1-Guys that don't chrono that have their guns cranked and shoot people from far away. Not a good idea.

2-Guys that conceal themselves and use tactics more than paint. An example would be someone who goes off by themselves, finds a hiding spot, and then waits until the targets are close, then shoots them after they walk by. Very few people are good snipers.

The Woodsball group has debated this to death.
As you know in the world of real guns a sniper is a longer range, consealed marksman. ranges of 1/2 mile or more are possible

In the world of paint ball, all markers (when shooting the same fps) have about the same distance. Apex and Flatline barrles excluded.

A paintball sniper is one, that with skill and stealth can shoot and hit (with more accuracy than most) targets of oppertunity without being detected. Typically the markers of choice are pumps, cockers and Automags...they seem to be more accurate and quite.

There really not a good word for this type of player so sniper works

lol

lol Speed.

lol...An over engineered automag? with a subpar barrel and an neat yet goofy feed system? And then renaming a mag a longbow? lol 🙄 Don't get me wrong i love mags but they hardly qualify for a sniper marker ( i know i shot one for 10 years)

Give me a cocker,or shocker, sniper, sterling, or phantom (q loader optional) if you want a real sniper type paintball marker.

Does the spec ops mag look cool? yes. Will lots of noobs buy it? yes. Is it a viable sniper paintball marker ? no
That thing is a toy for noobs designed by noobs.

...And not to dispute recent article in apg about paintball snipers but lying in a bush till some one walks by doesn't qualify you as a sniper... 🙄. Anyone can do that, and technically its an ambush. The guy who wrote that is the only 10 year paintball noob i know.

To be a sniper you must be able to consistantly out shoot your opponent from long range and there is just one way to do that. Learn your marker inside and out. Shoot every chance you get so that when your chance comes you know exactley where that ball is gonna land.

Buying a automag dressed up and some camoflauge doesn't do it.
