UXPL 2006 Update 10-26

I appreciate the players who have expressed an interest in the UXPL for 2006. Below is a status update.

On a personal note I will not be on 801 much for the next couple months because I am busy with college and pursuing a job opportunity. Other Mods have been promoted and I hope they will keep an eye on the website.

UXPL 2006 Status update:

NPPL Feeder: The UXPL has been in extensive negotiations with NPPL to become a Feeder series for 2006. We are on the NPPL list as a possible feeder league for 2006. However, the NPPL will not make a final Feeder program until Jan 1, 2006 or later. Hence we will not know any of the exact player qualifications or changes that may occur, until after the NPPL has finalized their feeder program.

Until the NPPL has finalized their feeder program I will not make any public speculation as to what the UXPL will look like in 2006 and beyond. The bottom line is we just don’t know, until the NPPL makes some decisions. If the feeder program is too expensive or has other problems then we may not participate, but the NPPL has not made any decisions at this time, and they will not until Jan 2006 or later.

Permanent Home: The UXPL is looking for a permanent home. The portable netting is too unstable to risk events in adverse weather. We are in negotiations for several possible solutions including the Davis County Fairgrounds, private property, or perhaps some other possibilities. Each of these is a long term negotiation, if and when there is resolution we will let you know.

Costs: If the UXPL is run next year the entry fees must be increased to cover the costs of running the event. The player committee has suggested some improvements and we are willing to make them, however each of those improvements has a cost associated with it. Other suggestions include a reduction in the price of paint, which would be offset with an increase in entry fees.

Exact cost projections cannot be made until we know what the cost of being an NPPL feeder will be and what the cost of a permanent home will be. In either case the UXPL is still a high value vs. cost. The reality is putting on a major series is difficult and expensive. If the UXPL is to continue it must pay its bills.

Sponsors & Community Support: The amount of staff need to produce the UXPL is more than one shop can provide. The UXPL needs help from other shops, fields and teams to provide adequate staff for set-up, reffing, and clean up. It is my hope that we can get support from more shops and fields with staffing. The UXPL is also pursing more commercial sponsorship from paintball companies and local businesses.

FAQ's: Who moves up?, How many divisions? One day or two day?, etc.
ANSWERS: All those exact questions depond on the Feeder status and Location. Until those fundamental quesitons are answered we cannot adress your specific questions.

When I have some solid information to report I will do so. Until then play hard, play safe!

PS: Again I will not be on 801 much so if you post questions to this I may not answer them for a week or so but I will get to them when I have time.

UPDATE: Dec 14, 2005

The UXPL season for 2006 is shaping up very well.
The NPPL feeder program for 2006 looks awesome!
The Venues are looking great!

Negotiaions are still ongoing and I want to make sure everything is in place before I put out public information or contracts.

There is a great deal of exciting news to get Utah players national regonition.
The NPPL will not allow us to release information until the official National Feeder series launches in January.

A couple more weeks guys and we can release all the exciting info.

I can tell you we are looking at 6 events next year.
Four 5-man events (similar dates to 2005)
Two 7-man events these will 2 weeks before the major XPSL or NPPL events and will include a mixed open class to allow the top Utah teams to tune up before national events!

We are also looking at monthly UXPL scrimages on a full size Airball fields for a low cost to teams BYOP.

Thanks for your paitence I should have the complete press release info in early January 2006.

Ya great news now I might be able to play in more than one event for the UXPL this comming year!! Count me to be there somewhere.

This is great news indeed. Sounds like alot of fun for 2006 and Frantic will be there. Hope to see everyone having a good time.🙂

hey thanks allen, winter is already long enough. way to make it drag on longer. gosh! kidding you know i've got nothing but love for ya (respect love, not the creepy "look i got your name tattoo'd on my face" kind of love, don't get it confused). i was kinda worried about next season and where things were going to be at. so you know me and the vanilla weasels will be there.

So allen are you looking for refs I have completed the NPPL course and will need to stay in pratice. I keep missing you at your store. 😎
