Paintball & Oil Econimics ??

My hypothesis is this.

The rising cost of gasoline in your budget will start to affect your
"Lesiure dollars". That is to say that as you spend more on Gasonline you will spend less on leisure (movies, music, games, etc).

Since paintball is a relatively high cost leisure sport it will be one of the items that is eliminated early.

What do you think about how the sport of Paintball relates to the increasing cost of Gasoline ? Or is there no relationship ?

.

will paintball prices go up because of raising petroleum prices? you think they would becuase of how and what they are made out of. perhaps companies will start to cut corners and make cheaper balls for the same price, or just charge more per case. it is an interesting question, but i know that no matter how high gas prices get im gonna keep playin, and ithink a lot of others will too. maybe just more carpooling will be involved.

Paintballing is almost the only thing we do for fun around here. Hubby has already started car pooling, but with everything else we have already talked about cutting down on paintballing as much as we hate to. Gas prices are starting to affect us and our hobbies. 🙁

With gas prices rising doesnt mean that one needs to stop or play less, just shoot less paint, play with a pump its just as much fun.

The 'car pool more' view is a little bit simplistic. Just about everything in this country is shipped from somewhere. Shipping takes some form of fuel. That fuel is paid for in the retail price you pay for products. So when gas prices go up, it is not a good thing. That means your food prices go up, your dry goods prices go up, just about everything increases in price. And a small increase on each product can add up very quickly.

From a paintball standpoint your paint will go up more because it's manufactured with oil based products, and shipped with fuel costs recovered in the price. The equipment prices will increase because of the added cost to ship them to you or your retailer, and the increased shipping costs for the raw materials to manufacture the product.

While the non-paintball costs don't directly affect a lot of people on this forum because they are not living on their own yet, those that are maintaining their own residence are beginning to feel the increase.

Personally I think that you will see a noticable decrease in the number of times the average player plays per month, and I think they will drop the amount of paint they shoot slightly. I don't think you will see much change in the behavior of the very hardcore players, because to them it's not leisure money but something they must do.
