september uxpl event

lets make this event the best one yet! i think that we need a beginner team division and maybe an open team division. i think that it would be a great way to end the uxpl season ( if this is the end of the season for the uxpl). i know that my team will sign up for the beginner division, we would only need 5 more teams. more would be better, but that is the min. amount of teams needed to hold an event. i think that it would be the same for an open division. it would be great if anybody knows of a new team that doesn't frequent these forums, if they could let them know about it. i also think that it would be cool to go and watch the open division events.
also maybe if this is big enouph, we'll get better media coverage 😁 . i think that they will be more apt to cover the events if they go on for two days. its hard to ignore something that lasts that long. plus with the rate that this is growing, if we can show growth in every event that would be news worth, i think.
anyway thanks and happy ball'n!

beginner uxpl

Judd, You apparently dont comprehend the ENORMOUS amout of time it takes to just get the rookie and nov divisions planned and executed for UXPL. Their are some beginner tourney's. Such as the one being held at battlegrounds on october 8th. An open class, nov class, rookie class and beginners class would be a huge undertaking. Allen does a fine job with what he has. He doesnt have a cast of thousands able to devote all thier waking hours to it. Plus you add in the cost of ref's, ordering paint, clean up/set up. and on and on.

I like your idea. But it just doesnt seem plausable.

i do know the extent of what it takes to put on one of these events. i've never put one on but i've talked with allen about it. he has told me that he could hold a beginner and/or an open class on friday before the rookie and novice event. i do understand the cost and setup hassels. to off set the cost he has asked for at least 6 teams to sign up and pay in each division. as for the set up and clean up, i know that me and my team could and would help with that at no charge, i'm sure that others would pich in also. i understand that procuring a venue for friday and saturday is another daunting task. that is why i would like to get everybody together on this as soon as possible to allow for enouph time to get a venue figured out. i know how much work allen puts into these events and i am so thankful to have him putting them on. if he needs any help with it i would gladly help in any way that i could. but i've already told him that. anyway your points are very well taken and to try and alleviate some of the problems with organising one of these events i would like to get on this early. if we cant get one together then thats ok, but i think that it would be a good thing if we could.

hey frontplaya04
that would be cool if we could get a beginner occult team out there. i know we are going to be kind of hard pressed to get 6 beginner teams together, but i think that we can make it happen if we start on it right now.

With a little luck and no wind the fields should be setup on Fridays by Miday and that could allow us to hold a Beginner event on Friday.

Judd and a few others have espressed interest and since it would not involve prizes and a full Ref crew, I think is possible to run a Beginner division on Fridays. ** IF there is enough interest ***

The Max would be 6 teams to allow a full prelim on Friday, then we will run Beginner Finals Saturday, before the Rookie & Nov Finals.

Trigeek is right the Open Division would be too hard but I think we could run a simple beginner divison on Friday, if the wind cooperates

Thanks for the interest! 🙂

well, If we are gonna do it, lets do it

A beginners bracket is a good thing. But the teams need to commit and actually play. I do not doubt battlegrounds. They always come to play. I know of another beginners team that may make it. But how about opening it up to young guns playing as beginners. When I say that. I mean LOCAL young guns. Not the Ballistic YG's. Those guys are far above beginners. <Sorry guys, but you are ranked #1 in XPSL.>

Teams need to commit to playing. Pay thier entry and show up. The MWXPL had 37 teams signed up. But only 20 odd play.

So, If Allen decides to do this. The teams need to prove to him they are serious.

we could play a beginner event, we wanted to this time(the 30th) but there was no beginner division, so we played rookie. it was kind of a big step for us. it would be great to get a beginner division.
