Losing or Cheating?

Everyone, well probably most everyone has seen the Can of Worms thread on utahpb. I just want to take a poll over here on 801 and find out thoughts here by the few others that don't get on utahpb.

For those of you that don't know, the can of worms thread went on for something like 275 replies about cheating and many aspects thereof.

Darkalliance..... the thread on utahpb wasnt my thread it was disturbed's.

hmmm

The acceptance of cheating in paintball is ruining the sport. I would love to see stricter rules that really penalise a team for cheating.

Cheating happens and always will, just as in ANY other sport. Penalties are enforced if caught, and if caught its a 3 for 1. How much harsher can it get. I have yet to see a team come back from that. True there is more cheating going on, and it has become more and more acceptable by many teams. You just have to play above it.

cheating is ---!ALWAYS!--- going to happen. Even if you make harsher rules people are still going to cheat. When i went down to the last xpsl and played young guns a couple teams cheated, the reffs pulled one for ones when they caught these players. Teams get dqed for having the wrong color of paint. I think the rules are strict enough and if people want to risk it and cheat go ahead....its only a matter of time before you get caught.

My OPINION is that if a person has to cheat (no matter how good or bad they are) they are compensating for something. Whether it be a lack of skills, commitment to better their skills, to stay in the game to continue playing, to be able to win the game and possibly win prizes, to compensate for some personal or physical limitation or issue 😉 , and the ability to gloat.

Great players don't have to cheat. They win their games because they know how to play their bunkers, use the angles, know when and where to move, and usually just have more experience than everyone else.

Don't get me wrong some of the "Great" players cheat. Again I say it is for one of the reasons above. I am not the best player and have to admit that there have been times that I have been guilty of cheating. Do I make it a part of my game, no. Do I think I am right or that it is acceptable, no. When I find myself cheating I take a hard look at why I did it. Usually I did something stupid and I work at fixing it. I would rather be a great player and crappy cheater than a crappy player and great cheater.
