Cheating is in the image. nuff said. People are aware that people cheat. I have asked many friends why they dont like to come out to the airport, addicts or play with larger groups of players. They reply " I don't like to play with people that cheat" and they mention all the other aspects, the typical bad mo fo image and usually the smoking/swearing as well.

Yes cheating is in the image, just like all sports. Like in football you hold a person you are going to get a penalty. You slap a guy in basketball, you are going to get a penalty. You wipe a hit, you are going to get a penalty. It's not going to stop no matter the situation, even when paintball hits tv. It will just be penalty's like we see in any other sport. And for the swearing, it will not stop in any sport. Can you imagine how much swearing is going on in the huddles? It's happening but we can't hear it. It is going to happen in paintball but once it hits the TV it will still be there it just won't be heard. I am hear to say that when i started playing football my parents wanted me to stop because of all the swearing and stuff. So when i got into paintball they were more relaxed because they knew any sport that i would play there will be swearing. Now i agree they need to get rid of smoking cause it blows. So Drop this Bullshit and lets get on with life and play paintball

Still playing paintball, always do.

But I see it as something that is ruining the sport. Wiping in my eyes and many others is not compared to fouls in basketball. Paintball originally and still is intended to be played in the way that one hit= your out. Wiping is more then a foul, it would be more comparable to having 6th man on the basketball court for your team. Since when one is hit, its as if another man walked onto the paintball field to take his spot.

Fouls in other sports don't = wiping in paintball. A foul in paintball may be stepping over the boundry line or running off break as a train and other items.

Cheating is a very vicious cycle that causes contention, yelling, screaming, maddness, swearing and Fighting.

Like Veritas and Frontplaya have both said. The only way is to penalize it harder, and for ref's to stop pussing out on making the calls. It seems that they either dont care, or are to "Star Dazzled" by the pro's to step up and make that tough call. Their job's suck, but its up to them to clean up paintball. Another good way to get rid of it would be if the sponsors penalized their teams. Like not giving them free gear, or paying all their paint and entry fee's. That is the only solution I see to it. Preaching and telling people to do the right thing just wont cut it as far as I can see.

Plus you havent gotten into the whole aspect of cheating being a skill...yes...it is a talent Krispy. I know, I know, "why would you work on such a pointless talent that does nothing for your game, when you could be improving your paintball skill to not get shot in the first place?" Who know's why? But it is a skill, and some people are very good and creative with it. And while it is frustrating playing against these people, its also kind of cool. They are pretty good at what they do. Being that it is a skill, and that it does have benifits and consequences (sp?) it is therefore part of the game, and will continue to be until something in the above part of this post happens to stop it.

Like I said in the UtahPb forum.

"When in Rome do as the Romans."

I dont need to cheat here in locals, or at practice, or playing rec ball. But...In bigger nationals, it is easier to play in the grey, because thats how the Romans play. 🙂

what i cant stand is rookie teams playing beginner teams that feel like they have to cheat because they might actually lose to some newbie kids. cheating will never be eliminated from paitnball, as it wont from any sport, but i like to see honesty in paintball. i am fairly new to the sport and it feels good to shoot out a more experienced player. if you cant take being shot, then you shouldnt play paintball in my opinion. if winning is too important to you than honesty..... it shouldnt be.

Those are great ideas, teams would be more apt to play fair if they realized that their sponsors weren't going to continue to cover them if they cheat.

Refs.....wow....They are stargazed watching even rookie and Novice teams as well.........step it up refs....

Preaching and telling people to do the right thing just wont cut it as far as i can see.............yeah... hence their are always people writing books, giving lessons, talking, etc, etc,, trying to get the right thing to be done.....its just natural for people to want to rebel....we all know that.

Anywho, the thing that i see this thread doing is it gets on a few peoples minds and they may double think if cheating is worth it. If one or two people decide to stop doing so, its changed a bit of the scene of paintball.

Just to get it straight i dont think less of the person that cheats, they are still a great person and a friend. I do however think that specially here in utah walk on games, rec ball, indoor, outdoor, uxpl, etc...that their is absolutaly no need for cheating. That said, it doesn't entail that it should be done in national tournies either.

I am agreeing more and more with Fez. This is a pretty lame subject, and has been beaten to death IMO. Just play ball, and let it work its self out.

my thoughts...

Those that dont like threads like this are the ones that cheat....

Is that true...?

It is a forum for threads, which are topics of discussion. Not many other threads with discussions going on.
