no pics will work

does anyone know how to get the pics off of the hard drive. and not through adding a URL address

In order to display pics on the forum, they have to be available on a webserver somewhere, so you would need to upload them from your hard drive, to some web space. There are a number of free webspace places (Geocities, Angelfire, etc.) but I'm not sure if they allow offsite linking. Your ISP usually gives you some webspace, so that may be your best bet.
