XPSL vs. NPPL ???

One of the reasons Utah team participated in the XPSL is becaue it was easier to get to some of the events than other series. The two events in Vegas were cost effective events versus NPPL events, less days off work, travel costs etc.

The XPSL opening event is no longer in Vegas, the two events listed are both in California.

(From http://www.forceofnature.com/index.php/articles/news/320)
XPSL
Corona, CA March 4th-6th (confirmed)
Santa Clara, CA April 30th – May 1st (confirmed)
TBA July 8th-10th
TBA September 2nd-4th
TBA October 7th-9th

If the XPSL is no longer having 2 Vegas events and the entry fee to XPSL is close to the NPPL cost, I have some questions.....

1) Will as many teams from Utah attend XPSL events ?

2) Will some Teams choose to go to NPPL events since the total cost is about the same (Travel, Paint, Entry) ??

3) Or will teams focus localy UXPL, WPC, MWXPL etc?

Your thoughts the economics of the location chage are welcome

xpsl is a starting line for teams. where they can really go out and compete against other teams around the west coast. local you only play teams localy and maybe some from another state. in local tournaments you are limited to the skill level of play
in xpsl there are some better teams to play against.
ya locals are fun but the out of state xpsl and nppls are where its at

I belive that most of the teams will remain with XPSL. California is still a lot closer than the midwest and east coast. I would imagine that XPSL will have at least one Las vegas event. I do think that it will make it harder for those teams wishing to make it to a larger scene. Due to money and logisitics. However, if they really want to step it up, they will find a way.

XPSL is, or at least used to be about 1/2 the entry cost of an NPPL. The competition in both is better than locals. I am not thrilled about them having the Openner in Cali, but what do you do. Cali has more teams, better teams, and more adequate locations to hold a major event. We wanted to go, but it is just too close to the NPPL Hunington beach event. Tooooo much driving in 3 weeks. I hope they have at least 1 event in Vegas, but we will see. I think teams will still attend the XPSL Series until another event can match up the skill levels, prize packages & sponsorship opporitunities.

Good post Mick. Last I looked XPSL was like $800-$970for entry and Rookie NPPL was $1300...
