Tourney Play and progession

Ok I never got into tourneys but I am def. looking to do so when I get out of the army. I know this might be a dumb question but please understand I've been out of the game for sometime.

What is the difference between all these leagues NPPL, PSP, MWXPL, etc..? And what is the usual progression between them if I want to someday go pro? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

nppl is a nationaly recognized tournament that is basically 7 on 7 with flags at each end i am not quite sure the scoring system. PSP is another nationally recognized tournament with alittle different ruleslike ramping guns capped at 13 i think, center flag and you play two 20 minute halves and you get one point per flag hang. mwxpl is just a state tournament that has nppl rules. to go pro you would definatly have to do nppl or psp but start out in the mwxpl and the xpsl in california
