Tests Part II: bigshot,Excel,A5 Stock barrel, chronic, evil, tork, pegball,Eliminator NOTE: Even if you arent interested in the results of A5 barrel testing you might find the other results from ball testing interesting.
OK, I did some more testing. I wanted to also test the flatline and Stiffi but just dont have the time & $$$. And the flatline kept breaking balls...go figure. Heres what I tested: The Gun - A5 with JCS RVA. FVA screwed out to be flush with power tube. Barrels - 12" Bigshot vs. 14" Dye Excel vs. A5 Stock barrel Balls - Chronic, Evil, Eliminator, Tork, Pegball Barrel Test procedure: 1)A5 sitting in my gun rest on a steady table. 2)Shooting through a Pact. Cronograph. 3)All tests were done using HPA. 4)All groups were 10 shot groups. 5)I used my shooting vise to hold the gun steady. 6)I shot 3 groups of 10 (with each of 5 kinds of balls) @ 75ft. with each barrel. (See Barreltests.pdf attachment below) Ball testing: Drop Test - I did drop tests with 5 of each brand of balls. Dropped from around 6ft onto concrete. (See Droptests.pdf attachment below) Pictures and more notes of the drop test can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/rodspb Notes I gathered from my testing: (See Notes.pdf attachment below) Additional NOTES: With the Excel and Bigshot shooting right at 280fps. I switched to the stock barrel and it was shooting at Avg velocity of 238.8. With the Flatline it Averaged 265.9fps(result= It takes alot more air in the stock barrel and the Flatline to reach 280fps so less shots per tank.) With all my testing done and just needing to put it all into a spreadsheet I read Curt Packer's post (on another forum)on his barrel testing (he shot a 10" pie pan and counted hits, not group size) and realized I had a flaw in my testing. My tests show the size of each group fired but from looking at them you would think none of the barrels did that great compared to each other. What it doesnt show is how many of the balls in a given group landed inside a 10" circle, or even a 6" circle for that matter. I'm a bit upset with myself for not thinking of this but cant afford to do the testing over. What you get from my barrel testing is just some ineresting facts but it really doesnt show the results I wanted to show. Conclusion: The groups for the Stock barrel can pretty much be taken for what they are. The balls were landing all over inside that area. For the Bigshot and Excel the size of the groups were mostly due to 1 to 3 fliers making the group so big but most of the balls hit inside a much smaller area. At 45ft the groups are much tighter (even with fliers) but once you get past 70ft the fliers really start to make a difference in group size no matter which barrel is used. What I shold have been testing was how many balls landed in a given area not the size of the groups. I wish I could have taken pics of each group to post but the testing took way too long the way it was. Here is all the data anyway (see PDF's). __________________ I wouldn't be so paranoid if everyone would stop trying to kill me!!!!! Last edited by oldman w/A5 : 10-14-2004 at 03:32 PM. | |||||
