Did I get hosed on 801?

Well, I hate to think it, but a well known member of 801paintball seems to have ripped me off. Let me explain...

I set up to meet this person to look at two dm6's I was potentially going to buy, one priced at $600 (black), one at $625 (black to cobalt). This required a nice one hour drive up to Salt Lake, and one hour drive back to Provo. I made up my mind to buy the black one. When we met, the price jumped to $650 for either. I still wanted the black one, and suddenly the black one was unavailable. This person said they were selling for a friend, and that the friend decided they wanted to hold onto the black one.

Well, I was really wanting a dm6 at this point, and the person stated they would throw in 1) a dm6 box with small parts kit, 2) a DYE UL front 3) a replacement eye cover for the one that was scratched up, and 4) a victory board for my halo. He seemed genuinely remorseful that he was jacking the price up at the last minute and wanted to make things better.

Well, I decided to pay him the $650 for the gun and the other items mentioned, figuring if I decided I didn't need them I would sell them and recoup the $50 I wasn't planning on spending. he gave me the gun, and I gave him a small down payment, then within a day or two sent him the remaining balance by check.

This all happened in April. Regardless of countless pms and three emails I have not received the extra parts promised. I offered to let him refund me the $50 if he was unable to deliver the parts, which I feel is reasonable. So... four and a half months later, with one single response from him (he gave me his email addy, though he has ignored emails sent to it) I have heard nothing from him (He has my email address, my cell phone number and access to 801paintball which I regularly visit). This isn't a fly by night member of 801... he is a regular poster, and I'm sure many of you know him.

I have his cell number, but haven't called it since he stated his cell was lost. I also have his home address, which I haven't visited, as I am not yet ready to bother his parents about this. My patience is wearing thin and so I am asking the community here... have I been scammed? Am I being ripped off, or is asking someone to fulfil thier obligation in a deal to much to ask?

Id suggest calling parents, if that dosent work then a nice drive is always good.

Thanks Ego, I've thought about it, and if it comes down to it I will approach the parents. I'd rather keep things between us, but I do not like being taken advantage of.

Thanks Derek, If it comes down to it I may ask for specific help with him, though my hope that he will see this thread and understand I'm not pleased with his decisions. As long as I can keep this between the two of us I want to, if it becomes neccessary I will post his name and ask those who know him personally if they can intercede.

Well I think almost all of us already know who you're talking about. Obviously we haven't heard his side of the story, but if something wasn't up then you'd have no point in creating a thread like this. A lot of people have been happy buying from him and I would think he would want to keep his good reputation as a seller/trader. Hopefully it can get worked out, but 4 1/2 months is a very long time not to get your stuff. You bought the stuff at the beginning of the paintball season and now the season is almost over and you haven't had a chance to use it or sell it. So like I said I hope it gets worked out.

i know who you are talking about and he is a really good guy im sure if you were to call him or pm him he would work things out with you.

Thanks Braden. If possible I will try to call him, as far as pm's and email they have been completely worthless.

It seems people are guessing who this is, and that's fine, as long as we agree that I don't really want to be dragging people names out across the forum. My purpose is not to flame/degrade, merely to have me and this person finish our deal.

On another note, the dm6 was in fine shape, and worth the money i paid for it, but that's not the point. The point is things were offered that were not delivered, all I want is those things or fair recompense in the form of cash... easy as that.

Thanks all for the civil manner in which this has been discussed so far. Lets keep it civil and perhaps everyone will walk away satisfied.

Do not do this. This is a stupid thread. Everyone here knows who it is. No need dragging his name through the Mud anymore. He is not in town right now and cannot defend himself. I know him very well. He is not a scammer or a thief. I will talk to him and let him know whats up. But let this thread die.
