Motorcycles I don't know much about motorcycles but I am looking to get either a bullet bike or a cruisuer/standard style motorcycle.
Whats your thoughts (pros, cons)? __________________

I've never owned a sport bike, but have owned a few cruisers over the past 15 years... I have a Kawasaki Vulcan right now and have been pretty happy. You get alot of bike for your money with Kawasaki and the styling on their 'Classic' models appeal to my tastes.
Lemme know what you end up deciding on. Would love to hear what you chose and why. Justin | |||||

Ihave yet to look at kawasaki, I have only looked at the honda rebel so far. Would the recommendation for a first time bike be to buy used?

I had a Rebel once... was a 250cc bike. Super small, but good for learning because of that. The bigger the bike, the more awkward and uncomfortable it feels when you are starting out. I'd try to go with a low cost, used 500 (edit: in fact, they have a 450 Rebel, I think... or the Shadow model for one step up from that). That way, you have a little power there for when you get past the initial learning curve... and it's low cost so you don't have to worry about dropping it (which you won't do, if you're careful in learning and take your time). Motorcycles I have ridden motorcycles since I was 5 yrs old they are the only way to go. I have owned many bikes and I would say do not buy a bullet bike esp. for your first bike. A bullet bike is made to race and most people seem to try to race them on the road. I would start with a used bike if you dump it while you are learning its not such a hit in the pocket. My wife bought a 450 Honda last year to learn on and has done very well with it. About 450 is good to learn on cuse after you learn its still big enough to ride around on plus she get 70 miles to the gallon! I ride a Honda vtx 1800 its way big but fun, if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

honda rebels are not fast, but they are a great bike to learn on. the key thing if you are barely getting into bikes is dont get in over your head. punk ass kids go buy a GSX1000 or an R1 and go kill themselves because they are inexperienced.
here is what my dad has always said: the first bike you own, you will lay down, so might as well get a shitty bike. and unless you are a major fatass, a 1000cc supersport bike is asking for trouble. and by trouble i mean death. and when i say death... just imagine balsa wood on sandpaper, only you are the balsa wood. __________________
