🙂 Just getting started...

I figured since I am just getting started at the sport I should come to the newb forum and ask my questions.

My brother and I decided we need something more to do then work, play on the computer, and yard work. So what better way to get exercise, spend time as a family, and plain have fun then shooting others 😉 .

Seriously though we are looking to find people that are playing regularly and possible start or join a team here in the future.

Does anybody have any recommendations/suggestions for a newb like myself of the best way to get started?

After taking a look at PBreview I am getting myself a Spyder TL-X and was wondering if anyone could make a suggestion a good barrel to replace the stock barrel?

Hope to be around for a while,
Greg S.

I would

I would suggest that for the first few games you play with the stock marker barrel so that if and when yhou decide to purchase a new barrle you will have a basis to compare it with.

The spyder markers are excellent, started markers, and are easwy to improve. Definatly a good chioice for a starter marker.

Where do you live Greg?
There are alot of regular playing fields as well as indoor fields from provo to bountiful.

Dont forget to check the GAME ON section for upcoming games in your area.

Welcome to Paintball!

Welcome to Paintball!

I live in Lehi and the brother lives in West Valley. I see that people play at Provo airport. Saturday mornings, but I will need directions since I am not only a Paintball newb but a Utah County newb also 😉 .

Places to play

Here ya go!

I've added the directions to Provo Airpot at the bottom.

Check this like for more noncommercial places to play.
http://www.mpaintball.com/fields.php

Commercial Places:
PB Addicts: http://www.pb-addicts.com/
Battlegrounds: http://www.battlegrounds-paintball.com/
Adrenaland: http://www.adrenalandfactory.com/
Extreme (7200 S State) No website that I'm aware of
Paintball Planet: http://www.peglegpaintball.com

Provo Airport Field:
Go south on I-15 and get off at the provo airport/lake center st. exit, . Then off the offramp turn right at the stop sign so your heading west (its Center st in provo), follow that road ALL the way down, its probably a couple of miles, then just before the road starts to bend and drop down to the lake, there is a sign for the airport. Make a left there at the sign. A mile or so down that road is the airport field. Its on the east side of that road, right across the street from the Helicoter place.

*Please note, I do not guarantee these directions will get you there. They were sent to me by another person and I was able to find the field.... but then again I was a little familiar with the area. 😁

Greg,
We have had good success with the CP One Piece barrel. They are inexpensive and do a good all around job. We have a number of barrels in the store. As well as good prices on the SPyder line and you get full warranty support.

Call with any Questions or check the wesbiste in my sig line.

Welcome to the sport GShort. I agree with Allen, he runs a great paintball store in Layton and if you are smart you should stop in and he'll help you out with everything that you'll need, not to mention giving you the best price out there even comparing it to the 'net.

The Spyder line is great, my first gun was a Shutter. I loved it. In my opinion it shoots better than most starter guns......

Have fun, play safe.

Greg,
The airport is a decent little speeball type field. Try to refrain from shooting at the helicopters flying 60 feet overhead.

If you want to try a more speedbal/woodsball combo theres also Squaw Peak Road.
To get there take the 8th north Orem exit and head east. You will eventually head down a hill and go left into Provo Canyon. After a mile or so you will be starting into a left curve with a pullout on the right and a raod with a Squaw Peak Rd. sign. (Theres also another road signt before you get there). Follow Squaw peak road for 2 or 3 hairpin turns and you will come to a big red gate with a white sin that says "Temp Archery" Park anywhere on the side of the road but done block the gate. (Most likey there will be other cars there when you get there).
There is a group that sometimes shows up there around 7am but most people get there around 9:00 and others roll in and out all day long.

I'd give them both a try and see what you like best.

BUT TO START YOU OFF RIGHT.... ALIENS in the Rockies is Aug 27th and 28th. Check out the link to Mellinium Paintball in Allens post above.

One of my favorite fields is the Spec Ops field in Layton. If you like woodsball you need to check it out. Great guys, great fun, great field, great deal on loaner guns if you want to bring others along.

I only wish that I could make this. I have to be at work and found out about it to late to schedule the time off. Love the pic of the guy that has 20 some odd hits on his back. Me and the bro are planning now for next year for ALIENS VI hopefully I have enough exp under my belt to not look like the pic mentioned above 😉 .

**Edit
I assume (and we all know what happens when you assume 😉 ) you are talking about Saturdays when you mention times.
