Field in Logan Canyon...

Anyone still go up and play at the field thats just off the side of the road up Logan Canyon...

Its just past the damn, and the damn keepers house.
A bunch of culverts, and concrete barriers, also some metal things and logs.

Looks like it could be a fun small scenario feild, or just intense fire fights.

As far as I know the Air Force ROTC is the one that uses that field up there in the canyon every once in a while.

The USU paintball team doesn't go up to the canyon to play. We usually play at Harris or go to practice to SLC to PB Addicts, but after our last experience we probably won't go down there.

Based on how good velocity is once it's open, we might shift our practices and games to there, except in summer when Harris' location is perfect.

We went there a few Wednesdays ago and the experience wasn't all that great for our team, and even more so for those people (including a girl that I invited) that we were introducing to paintball for the first time.

Although Addicts apparently has no house teams, Ballistic and another team showed up and were there like they owned the place. One of the guys on their team didn't chrono and ended up shooting one of my back and one of my mid players shooting well over 300 FPS. My back man had a bloody crater in his gut, and he was at the other end of the field...my mid guy got a pretty good welt around the same spot.

Sure, we complained to the field owners and refs but they didn't do much except chrono the next game's players as they walked on the field.

Not only that but the refs were making horrible calls...that's the one thing I really think Addicts lacks, quality reffing. Not to rag on the kids, but they only have ONE ref on the field at a time, and they call paint checks from across the field instead of getting into the action. The field owner came to our team's forum and lashed out at me for saying so, but if those kids are really supposed to be refs, why aren't they doing a better job or have more of them on the field during games? They have plenty of them, there are at least 3 refs there all the time and everyone plays on the sup air field anyway, so it's not a location issue. They even have ref shields, but it makes me wonder why they have them if they have no use for them by standing at the side of the field watching the game.

Not only that but it's also a two-hour drive for us to go down there to practice. That's why I'm excited about Velocity opening closer to us- that way we don't have to buy FPO at $65/case, which as poor college students it's kinda ridiculous to pay.

Thats too bad to hear. I personally have only gotten to play down there once since the field has opened. I can see however how that can happen.
I look forward to playing at addicts and at velocity this spring when I return.
I hope that this kind of an incident is an isolated event. I have met John, and I think that he was a really nice guy.
Hopefully this is just a rare occurance and is nothing to have to worry about down the road.

Ok, seeing that my account for some reason is locked out and my password and email don't work, I'll just have to post with this account until I get it fixed.

I was pretty mad about the stuff that went down at Addicts, but I think that was really unreasonable of me to pass judgement that quickly on their field. I really do hope, however, that this instance was a one-time thing because it's a pretty good field and I wouldn't mind playing there again if it wasn't so far away and so expensive.

I went about two weeks before this happened (on a Saturday) and had a blast. Hopefully the experiences won't carry over. John even helped me figure out what was going on with my marker, he's very smart, very helpful and a class-A field operator. Definitely a great guy.

i have almost always had a great experience down at addicts. very few times have i gone down there and not. But yes, i agree with the ref complaint. only one ref, especially only one that doesnt get into the fight, doesnt do much good. there are a few refs that do a good job, but those are usually on thursdays and saturdays. that airball field in logan sounds good, i htink my team is gonna go up and play. will have to talk to the rest of them though.
