Something to think about!

The recent events surrounding the paintball community has many wondering what will happen next...

Oliver Lang and his $100,000 change.

Anyone who has read the information concerning the Texas PSP Tournaments, the results, and the number of the new Division IV teams (35) competing, can surely see a transformation in tournament paintball. The Vegas event will also see a large number of teams turn out.

The Texas prize cash money ($128,000) is fantastic!!!

One of the reasons (just one of many) that Velocity Paintball pursued the PSP affiliation, concerned the following information. Imagine the long term positive implications of landing the Olympics! The following is a quote from a recent article by Warpig:

"One major reason for this is that for competitions like the Olympics to consider a sport, there must be a central body around which the activity is unified. There must be one group that states what the official rules are, and how the game is played. While NPPL, Inc., promotes itself as “the sole sanctioning body for all amateur and professional paintball players in North America,” it only represents a portion of the pro and amateur tournament play in the US. In a release dated December 13th, 2005, Paintball Sports Promotions announced its planned participation in a new global governing body for the sport – the United Paintball Federation. According to PSP’s announcements, the UPBF is designed to simplify the unification of national tournament leagues in order to have an organizing body which can deal with organizations like the International Olympic Committee, and unify rules as well as player tracking, ranking and identification".

The PSP is very much aware of the happenings in the paintball community and wants the players to start considering the possibilities of paintball in the Olympics. The Olympics would help rebuild a sagging representation in tournament paintball. What would a paintball Gold Medal represent to the winning team in sponsorships and money? Your guess is as good as mine!
