-= UXPL Ref Training =-

The UXPL will be conducing an UXPL ref training.
The Referee Training will use NPPL rules and training format.

The training will consist of 1 evening of class work aprox 3 hours.
At the end of the evening a test will be administered.
Anyone who passes will be allowed to attend the field training.
Field training will be 4 hours of training and a field test.

Those who passes will be allowed to ref in UXPL's for 2005 and 2006.
The cost for the course is $20. If you are selected to Ref for the UXPL then your fees will be refunded to you and your cost will be nothing to be UXPL Ref Certified.

Any questions email me at

Thanks,

Probably not but we are still negoiating with NPPL for complete use of thier materials and information so maybe. If they will allow us to then we will use thier materials which will make the cost $75/ea but the UXPL will pay for any of our Refs to take the course.

Answers

Time frame is the week of Sept 10th or 17th...

Age limit, Good question... not decided at this time.

Too Old no, but with Ballistic sponsored teams in the league it does pose some perception of potential conflict of interest. We will consider it.

Jordan thanks for your interest, we have tried younger refs several times and each time it has gone badly. We have taken a position on age becasue of bad expereinces we have had with younger guys, in general they just lack the maturity that comes with a few more years of life expereince.

However some of our best Refs have been 17-18 year olds, once they learn how to manage players frustrations.

A large part of Reffing is dealing with people when they are angry, its conflict management skills. In general at 14 or 15 you might know some of the rules of the game but most kids that age do not have conflict management skills, most kids are still trying to learn how to manage their own emotions, let alone an angry adult.

The other issues is respect on the field. For right or wrong most adults dont respect a 13 or 14 year old but they will respect some one by 18, its not personal its just life perception..

Like I said we will consider your offer and I would hope that you know the rules well since you have been playing for several years, its the maturity level that is a concern for guys your age.

I am not trying to be offesive just very direct with my accessment on this issue 🙂

Sorry I over looked the where part of your question 😳

The Class portion would be held in Layton at Millennium or at my house were we can present the powerpoint presentation on a big TV or Screen. The field portion would be at the Frantic private field about 1/2 mile from Millennium in Layton, after thier practice.

It is also possible that we could to all this in one day instead of 2.
Wtih class from 9-12 and field time from 1-5pm.
