Quick question about tourney scoring.

I have a quick question about the scoring. This isn't a complaint or gripe just a straight up question. IN USU vs. redz in the finals the time expired with one of our guys being alive and two of redz being alive. This would make the score

Redz 4
USU 2

In the next game we lost, but took one of their players meaning the score would have been

Redz 98
USU 4

at this point our scores would've been

Redz 102
USU 6

If the scoring on this is right we should've had another game. Is this correct? Or are we adding up our points wrong. Just a question so we can be better prepared at the next tourney.

Thanks, Travis

im not sure what the uxpl format is but in alot of tournaments it is the best 2 out of 3 with no points
example
game 1 goes to time
team A has 3 bodys
team B has 2 bodys
team A gets a win
game 2
team A wins with 2 bodys
team B loses with 3 kills
team A gets a win
so team a has won 2 out of 3 games

Yah that's what we figured, but I've been looking at the rules and can't find anything definite. It gives you a points system at game end with two points being awarded for every live player.

Trav,

The finals are the best 2 out of 3. However, each individual game it still scored by points to determine the winner. So in your first game, Redz eliminated 4 of your guys for 16 points and had 2 guys remaining for 4 points and a total of 20. USU eliminated 3 players for 12 points and had one player remaining for 2 points and a total of 14 points. Either way they scored it (i.e. total points or whoever had the most players alive) Redz won the first game. The second game, Redz eliminated all USU players with 4 or 5 players left and then hung the flag, which in any game signifies a win.

So there should not have been a third game.

I do want to congratulate Redz's Old School 1, USU, JT's Brusiers, and the crew for their top ranked finishes. You guys defintely earned and deserved them!!

Jordan,

I dont know what crack you are smoking but I am sick and tired of the LIES that you and others have perpetrated at the behest of your puppeteers !!! You are being used and you guys keep falling for it.

The rules have been available for download since March 2005 at
http://www.uxpl.com/format.htm

Scoring is in section 12.0 and 12.2

I know there are certain indivuduals that are constantly trying to attack me and the UXPL and that you and others do their bidding.

If you dont like the tournament fine! Stay away!
Dont ask me privately to play and then attack me publicly!!! What Hypocrisy!

Jordan,

You should definitley put on your own tournament! You seem to know loads about the way a tourney should be run, scored, officiated etc. I think airball fields are only about $5,000 dollars a piece, and I'm sure you have the connections with various city councils to get yourself a great venue.

Personally, I'm thankful we have two tourney circuits to play on. It lends parity to the local scene, and makes it so those who are not playing national events all year still have a place to compete. Both of the circuits are fantastic, and we are lucky to have them!

Yes i agree it is a very well ran tourney and i will agree its great. I have yet to play the UXPL this year but I participated all last year and it was great. I just see players that should be playing watching on the sidelines telling me that Allen would not let them play with their team. Allen check your PM's

Travis,
Your not causing any problem. You are asking a legitimite question and I think Jayson did a good job of explaining how scoring works. Cory can comment further on rules and scoring if he wants, that is his expertise.

The problems come from a handful of whiners who try to twist evey foum discussion into a flame fest.
