Cash or Prizes I noticed that quite a few people sell the gear they win at tournaments in order to fund their next tournament. Would you rather have cash from the get go?
It seems like giving out paintball gear and then having the winning teams sell it off will just hurt local shops by losing the sale they would have made if not for a tournament player selling it on the cheap. If you prefer prizes, would you rather win an XBox or something instead of barrel kits and apparel? I don't run a tournament and haven't competed in one yet, this has just been eating at me, so I figured I'd get some input. | |||||

CASH IS an IRS problem Neil,
IF you do a Cash give away it creates some accounting problems. Basically you have to pay taxes on the winnings and the event promoter has to generate a 1099 form to the winners. Big accounting hassles.... Thats why Cash prizes are not common.. __________________
